I respectfully disagree about a reboot. To me the best way to make a Superman franchise that can work for more than one film and have any kind of substance is to humanize the character.

I like how they explored the duality of the character and give it more depth. Its not just Clark goofing off and then Superman comes and is just one dimensional, it adds layers and you care more about the character as a whole.

That in turn sets up the action in the sequel to be more dramatic and meaningful, if they ever get around to it.

I still say that Lobo would make the best villain for Superman to battle (interstellar motorcycle aside)

wow....all they do is talk talk talk about this thing.

It will never get made. Superman will more than likely receive a reboot at some stage but I will believe in "the man of steel" when I see it.

It aint gonna happen. I just read an interview with singer where he says thay are still in early stages of developing an idea for the story......

That's one of the reasons I'd love a reboot. Because at this point any monstrous villain is gonna seem out of place in the world where Superman battles having an illegitimate son and his most challenging foe is Lex Luthor. Look, Lex is cool and all, but when a mere human can get Superman so close to defeat, there's no way he'd stand a chance against a Darkseid or Doomsday.

@Rodney

I ve been really enjoying your posts lately. anyway Regarding the superman actually getting phyical. Great News! I really hope its darkseid or less hope for doomsday, But i am not sure if these charcters are too fantastical. I do however hope it NOT a bloody kryptonian and the villian has a more monstrous form

Thank god we will have an angry superman, and please let the kid be killed off, Superman returns was a greta movie, but how did anyobody thought adding s bastard child to Superman would be a cool idea? That's the only thing that I didn't liked about the movie and it ruined the whole experience. Without that factor, Synger can do a wonderful job.

Superman deserves a total franchise reboot like Hulk. Sorry, but Superman Returns was not the kind of film you can build a successful franchise around. It tried to take the whole approach of humanizing a superhero... problem is that's already been done before, and done better. And if ever there was a superhero that should NOT be humanized like that it's freakin' Superman. He pretends to be a flawed human when he's Clark Kent... but the truth is that he is perfect. Making him into a conflicted, depressed, sorry-for-himself deadbeat dad is not the foundation for a successful Superman movie franchise.

Start from scratch. New director, new actor, new everything. (a shame, because Routh was a good Superman... just in a terrible Superman movie). But the franchise needs a fresh start over. This time make it a kick-ass superhero action movie, and leave the conflicted father plots for romantic comedies and drama's.

Superman should be battling the most powerful beings in the universe, not his damn emotions. That's for mere mortals to tackle, not the man of steel.
