Scott Adkins Joins Cast Of Wolverine
It looks like Wolverine will have one more person to stab in Scott Adkins. We get word that he has been tapped for the project from our good friends at moviehole:
Spoke to my buddy Isaac Florentine today, a fellow martial-arts aficionado and the director of such films as “Undisputed 2” and “The Shepherd : Border Patrol”, who tells me Scott Adkins, an actor who appears in near all of Florentine’s films, has jettisoned down under to join the cast of “Wolverine”.Adkins, who played the Russian jailbird who pummels Michael Jai White in the “Undisputed” sequel, will take on a similar role in this (um, someone who fights). He’ll play Weapon 11, one of the many mutants of the X-world, whose main objective is to rip the claws from Wolverine. He no doubt doesn’t succeed in his mission – Wolvie’s the hero, after all! – but I’m sure we can expect a good scuffle anyway. The bulk of his scenes will appear in the last reel of the film.
The list of heroes and villains in Wolverene seems to be growing and growing without any end in sight. I thought this stand alone film was going to give us a chance to further dig into the history of the character, and investigate the parts that make him tick. With so many other characters I am concerned that this will be impossible, and struggle to see why a Wolverene standalone film was chosen when X-Men 4 may have been a better vehicle to showcase this growing crew.
The release date for this project is May, 1 2009 and we will be sure to keep you updated on all the news that bubbles forth through the inter-web.

Weapon 11 was announced months and months ago as being in the movie, so you can’t keep bitching about the list of characters getting bigger and bigger, when it actually hasn’t gotten any bigger since you last bitched about it. This bit of news doesn’t make the character list any bigger then it was before, all it’s doing is now filling some actors into some of the roles that were previously announced.
Fair enough Slushie Man.
I can’t double dip on my bitching and I am glad you brought this to my attention.
This is good news to me. After seeing the Van Damme film, I thought I’d see Scott Adkins again in another action film. The Weapon 11 character was indeed announced awhile ago, just not on who played him. However, this sounds more like a “thug” role to me. Kind of like the “Spike” character in X-Men Last stand. Y’know?
The fact that the cast keeps growing and growing like Doug mentioned, has me concerned aswell. You would figure since the cast is undoubtly gonna be huge, that an X-Men 4 would’ve been a more sensible choice to have these characters shown. It’ll be interesting to see how this film turns out by next year. However, I think speak for a lot of people when I say, that Wolverine was show cased enough in all three X-Men films. By this point, it just seems that he’s being milked to audiences.
This character at least has to do with wolverines origins. Its characters who shouldnt be born yet (or are very young) like gambit who concern me.
“By this point, it just seems that he’s being milked to audiences.”
I really don’t care WHY they’re making it, as long as it’s good. Let them make it for all greedy reasons, but as long as it entertains me, I’ll be happy with it.
