Wonder Woman Getting A Make Over
It appears Wonder Woman is still a work in progress, and an entirely new script is in the works. We get this scoop thanks to our friends over at IESB:
Joel Silver says he’s got writers working on a new script. And which writers are those? They are the guys behind the Wonder Woman World War II based script that WB snatched up last year, Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland. No, this new script will not be set in WW II like the spec script these guys drew up instead a whole new storyline and setting are currently being developed.Originally shying away from an “origin” or genesis story for the superwoman, Silver has reconsidered and says they are really looking into a story involving Paradise Island and her background. IESB asked if Silver had a director in mind, perhaps the Wachoski brothers that have just finished Speed Racer. Well, he wouldn’t answer the question directly (does he ever?) but he did say that Andy Wachowski had an idea on how to open the Wonder Woman film. When pressed further he would not comment.
I am glad a Wonder Woman film is still being considered, and will be re-worked to showcase the origin story. Paradise Island is a place that we need to visit as moviegoers, and I always think a comic book franchise should begin with a strong origin story. The origin sets the stage for the following films and bridges the gap between the comic book and the film very, very well. The first Spiderman movie is my favorite of the three largely due to the excellent manner in which Raimi tackled the origin.
I am not certain I would fancy the Wachowsi Brothers as directors for the project; but who knows, they may do an excellent job. After shitting the bed with wrapping up the Matrix trilogy, I am still a tad judgemental. I am interested in seeing what they have done with Speed Racer. If it is awesome – my opposition will certainly lessen.
Wonder Woman is among the most iconic DC characters and easily the greatest female super-hero in my books. I look forward to the film, and if done right; think it could be excellent.
International Friends – do you have interest in a Wonder Woman movie. If so, would you like the Wachowski bothers at the helm?

No one gives a shit about Wonder Woman. This movie will never be taken seriously because female superheroes are never taken seriously. They are only around for T&A, the comics are all about T&A, and the movies are always about T&A. X-Men at least has the Phoenix story(which was completely ass-raped in X3), but other than that, women in comic book movies stand there, jiggle their tits, and scream. You can’t even sell WW as a role model for women, because as strong as she is and as powerful as she is, SHE’S STILL DRESSED LIKE A STREET WALKER. I’d rather not see the thing get made than be subjected to another round of this:
“Oh, she looks so HOT in that outfit!”
“Yeah that’s nice, but what about the plot?”
“Look at her tits!”
“Umm, the PLOT?”
“Her ass looks great!”
“PLOT?!”
If you can’t do it correctly, don’t bother fucking doing it. You’re wasting your time by making the film and thinking that anyone will take it seriously.
The only female superhero movie I can think of that fits those complaints is Catwoman. I can’t think of a single other movie superheroine off the top of my head that fits those complaints.
Elektra
No, Elektra sucked, regardless of gender. In fact, they did not spend enough time in the costume for it to even be hot. Her costume is like ninja porn, instead we got alias light.
My writing partner and I wrote a really fantastic origin story treatment for big-screen Wondy –at the urging of an executive– complete with a bible and a set-up for sequels. It was completely dismissed in the most dismissive way possible.
I read the script by the two guys mentioned above that Silver Pix purchased and, well, I wasn’t a fan of it. Of course I think ours is better, naturally, but that’s not really a subjective call. We merged comic, animated and TV mythology into a a cohesive, contemporary and recognizable origin story so not only was it new and fresh but also familiar.
Too bad it will never see the light of day.
I think wonder woman is a great idea she doesn’t need made over to much, and by the way one of the best assets of a woman is sex appeal there is power behind that it’s only ugly women with no sex appeal that don’t want to see this movie made and hide behind the umbrella of sexest. “stop hate’n and move on my daughters are looking forward to the movie and so am I!
