Wow, I was just recommending this book to my girlfriend and went online to see if I could find a synopsis and lo-and-behold a film is in the works! Atruro Perez-Reverte has been one of my favorite authors for years, ever since I first read The Flander's Panel and if this adaptation has even a quarter of the pacing, depth and spectacle of the novel, it's sure to be fantastic. Definitely looking forward to this! Also, if you've never read this book or any Perez-Reverte, this ones a great place to start, the Alatriste series is phenomenal (although slow to be released in English)The Fladner's Panel is likely my favorite and The Club Dumas is a real nail-biter. Great to see Hollywood taking inspiration from not only a great writer, but an international one at that!

This does sound like it can be good and I can see Mendes owning this role as a strong woman who will take no shit. I hope she doesn't only use her goons to inflict pain and torture on those who fail in their jobs.

I also hope that this will be one of Josh Hartnett's strong performances because he's pretty hit and miss. I'm not entirely sure I see him as a Marine getting involved in the drug trade. He could be the weak link, but he might surprise.

Kingsley should to do just fine playing a Russian, I hope he's scary.
