Winehouse Ditches Bond
It looks like Amy Winehouse will have to bail on the upcoming James Bond soundtrack – because she is in no shape to do anything. This disappointing news was brought to our attention thanks to the fabled caves of Yahoo:
Looks like Amy Winehouse isn’t ready for any kind of Bonding experience yet. In an interview with Britain’s Sky News, her producer, Mark Ronson, revealed that the Grammy-winning soul diva has stopped working on the new theme song for the latest 007 flick.He said Winehouse is “not ready to record any music” and that it’s going to take “some miracle of science” to finish the two tracks for the upcoming Quantum of Solace.
Well this is a damn dirty shame. Winehouse has an outstanding voice and is a perfect songstress for a James Bond theme. This is an opportunity of a lifetime for her, and it’s quite sad that she will be unable to capitalize on it, because she’s too busy destroying herself.
I know crack is a tempting mistress, we would all like to sit under a willow tree and blow a rock; but it isn’t as rewarding as a James Bond title track. I feel regret for Ms. Winehouse and hope that she will be able to pull her shit together before she ends up dead in a ditch.

Sorry Doug, but Amy Winehouse is nothing more than an idiot wino, disease ridden, meth-mouthed, crackwhore who isn’t doing anything musically other than ripping off things that Ronnie Spector has already done 1,000 times better.
TPTB would be much better going off with someone who will actually take this gig seriously. I dunno, I think a band like Puracane could work very well for this type of Bond film… or hell, anybody else besides Amy Winehouse.
What a tragedy, in my opinion she was perfect for a Bond song.

Back in the good ol’days musicians were able to churn out record after record while still maintaining a healthy drug habit. Keith Richards, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, all of Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Liza Minelli….
So I wonder who they’re going to hire now. Let’s hope it’s in a similar soul-style vain and not some mediocre soft-rock-crap like the last song.

Although it isn’t my favorite song of hers, Ronnie Spector is most famous for the song “Be My Baby”… most of well known material is from when she was the lead singer for the Ronettes.
what a dumbassed shame! Amy’s pipes & working with Ronson again could’ve pulled it off big time. last truly decent Bondesque track of a sweeping magnitude was KD Lang’s Surrender that was used in the closing credits of Brosnan’s second 007 effort Tomorrow Never Dies.
even that got shabby treatment as it shat all over Sheryl Crow’s piece of crap in the opening credits.
Get on a plane to London Doug; you can sing it. You don’t even have to write it, you can just improvise.

I’m not a huge fan of Winehouse’s music, but the woman has a voice. It’s a shame she’s so strung out she can’t even focus on work anymore. Every picture of her these days shows how she’s on the brink of death.

When we read about the drug and alcohol infused breakdowns of Britney, and Lyndsay I don’t mourn the loss of any creative output, because largely they didn’t deliver much more than mediocre returns anyway. With Amy Winehouse is strikes me as a much bigger tragedy for audiences. Her album last year was revelatory, and made her one of the most unique voices in music. Letting her addictions take control is a special tragedy in her case because I have a feeling there are depths of brilliance just waiting to be mined there, and being able to join the Bond theme song club was a perfect match for her talents.
I used to wonder what all the whoopdy doo was about this one hit wonder who STILL doesn’t have a second hit until I saw a youtube video of one of her earlier performances. Before she hit it big.
She is a truly gifted singer. Or should I say was. If you read the posts above this you will see that her public image and general decline in health, appearance and appeal has been affected.
Now Amy Winebottle is a washed up, wasted, unattractive waste of stage space. Her past rep has earned her some spotlight and shes flushing it down the drain.
