We have discovered that Steven and Diablo have landed a Showtime spot for their TV program The United States of Tara. We get the following news from the hallowed halls of the Hollywood Reporter:
Showtime has given a series pickup to “The United States of Tara.” The pay cable channel has greenlighted 12 half-hour episodes (including the pilot) of the single-camera comedy from DreamWorks TV and Steven Spielberg. It’s expected to enter production in Los Angeles in the summer.
“Tara,” written by Oscar-winning “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody, stars Toni Collette as a wife and mother with dissociative identity disorder. John Corbett co-stars as her husband. Story lines will examine how a dysfunctional family copes with the various identities that might appear on any given day and range in age, temperament and even gender.
This isn’t really movie news, but I figured the team up of these two heavyweights may be of interest to our readers.
A showtime program about a mom with dissociative identity disorder is a show with a myriad of possibilities and angles. It can be humorous one episode and intensely dramatic the next. The main characters ability to change personalities, allows for a blank check every episode““fffrt. I can see this being very, very good, and with the talent they have behind it – I think quality can be assured.
