Cody And Speilberg Sell The United States of Tara To Showcase
We have discovered that Steven and Diablo have landed a Showtime spot for their TV program The United States of Tara. We get the following news from the hallowed halls of the Hollywood Reporter:
Showtime has given a series pickup to “The United States of Tara.” The pay cable channel has greenlighted 12 half-hour episodes (including the pilot) of the single-camera comedy from DreamWorks TV and Steven Spielberg. It’s expected to enter production in Los Angeles in the summer.
“Tara,” written by Oscar-winning “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody, stars Toni Collette as a wife and mother with dissociative identity disorder. John Corbett co-stars as her husband. Story lines will examine how a dysfunctional family copes with the various identities that might appear on any given day and range in age, temperament and even gender.
This isn’t really movie news, but I figured the team up of these two heavyweights may be of interest to our readers.
A showtime program about a mom with dissociative identity disorder is a show with a myriad of possibilities and angles. It can be humorous one episode and intensely dramatic the next. The main characters ability to change personalities, allows for a blank check every episode““fffrt. I can see this being very, very good, and with the talent they have behind it – I think quality can be assured.

She kinda looks like Uma Thurman in that pic.
i just hate diablo cody. she makes me sick to my stomach. she so fake.
I’m sorry but I’ve got to nitpick. Showtime, not showcase. As for the show, I hope the names behind it don’t cause this to get hyped up, as it will never live up to that.
Sorry, we have showcase in Canada – my mistake.

@Mike, if you know she has a fake ass name then you also know she started a beef with stuart weiztman. over a charity shoe, because she thought it was too much of a celebrity stunt. even though she’d already been measured for them. and then made that decision for press. so you believe whatever you want.
