Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 Moves up Release Date

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 is set to get the jump on its competition by moving up its release date by two days.

Cinematical Says:

Still, to get a head up on the competition, Ace Showbiz reports that those Traveling Pants will now hit the screens two days earlier, on August 6. WB distribution president Dan Fellman explains: “It gives us a couple days of extra summer play time. So it just looked like a smart thing to do.”

So do you really need a jump on the movies they are “competing with”?

Call me crazy but this movie is coming out on the same weekend as Pinapple Express (pothead adventure comedy) and the Perfect Game (period sports drama). I don’t know that these can legitimately be considered competition.

Any time a movie comes out on the same weekend it has to consider what has been released at the same time that might take away its thunder, but for this weekend I don’t see an overlap. The demographic that is likely to be looking forward to Sisterhood2 is less likely to be interested in either of the other two movies coming out.

So is something else coming out that week that I just don’t know about?

You can skip to the end and leave a response.

It’s probably because school will start soon so they just want to get in more days before that happens.

Nooooooooo. I was really looking forward to that movie coming out on my birthday.

School isn’t a factor. Most movies don’t count on any income past the first few weeks and this is 3 weeks before most schools start.

There is plenty of time for the target audience to see this movie. It wont be in the top 10 boxoffice results 3 weeks after its release.
