Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

The news actually came out yesterday that the upcoming Transformers sequel has a new name. No, it isn’t “GoBots Do Dallas”, but rather just a sub-title. Transformers 2 is now going to be called “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen”
Now me personally, I don’t mind this title. I HATE it when sequels don’t have numerical consistency (Like how they called National Treasure 2 “National Treasure: Book of Secrets”) and this one has both… so I’m cool with that.
Also, the sub-title itself, “Revenge of the Fallen”, is a bit cheesy, but perfectly in keeping with the Saturday morning cartoon brand.
The title does give a huge piece of the movie’s plot away (not in a spoiler type of way). I think we’re safe to assume we know who the title is talking about… MEGATRON. Yes Megatron was defeated in the first one… but we all knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that when they dropped his body in the Ocean that we’d be seeing him again (not to mention, in the cartoon we sometimes see a Decepticon base coming out of the ocean).
The only question is… will Megatron himself be back… or the re-created version of Megatron known as GALVATRON???? Personally, I think it’s too soon for Galvatron and would rather see Megatron stick around a while. HOWEVER… if they do go the Galvatron route, and manage to get Leonard Nimoy to come on board and do the voice… that would be freaking awesome!
So what do you think about:
1) The title
2) The option of either making Megatron come back as himself, or as Galvatron?

how about instead of robots….they put bunnys! wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii bunnys!
1. I personally l like the title. I really don’t see anything wrong with it.
2. Galvatron? Absolutely not. He was such a farce in the animated series. I hated him. Keep Megs.
Either one will work for me honestly. I just want to see more big screen Transformers.
1. I like the title, it actually sounds bad ass to me.
2. No matter what form megatron comes back, from the title, it’s going to be “Empire Strikes Back”-ish. I’m hoping megatron comes back, and the Decepticons just give the Autobots a beating throughout the whole movie ending with Optimus being dragged away from battle in a burning wrecked mess setting up the 3rd movie (I’m pretty certain they’re making a 3rd, everything comes in 3’s now a days)
They didn’t even have Megatron in the first movie, at least not how he was supposed to be. Why bring any of them back? I love that you post the sweet picture of the original bad ass Megatron, yet you endorse the horrible design of the movie robots and all the bad stuff that comes along with them. It’s a stupid title too. Can you post a sweet photo of the robots from the movie where they aren’t just a swirling mess of gears, wires and CGI crap?
If he is rebuit as Galvatron, this will be strange as I predicted this with my April Fools gag this year.
There are also other spoilers in my post today that I predicted in that gag too, but I wont say them here.
Hey Rick,
Man, I liked Megatron in the cartoon too… but he would have looked beyond all logical points of fucking retarded in a live action film if they kept they same design.
You’ve got to take the medium change into account. A live action Megatron in the same design as the old cartoon would have been soooo stupid looking. A penis helmut, a trigger crotch and bid stiff boxes for arms, legs and a chest that would never actually move…
Sorry man, I still side with the redesign for the live action character. Much more believable, much more fluid… and it still captured the essence and spirit of who Megatron is.
But that’s just my opinion.
1. I hate the title, I hate the new trend where sequels have these subtitles. Indiana Jones is an exception of course (but the last one was quite long) Transformers 2 should be just TF2. Revenge is a played out title for a movie all ready and calling it Revenge of the Fallen sounds cheesy, why not just call it Revenge of Megatron?
I don’t mind the title, kinda cheesy but will get over it. I think i’d prefer to see more Megatron as he was more Optimus’s rival with Galvatron being more a foil for Rodimus after the animated movie but if they went with Galvatron and got Nimoy to voice that’d be pretty cool. Galvatron was pretty baddass in the movie especially when he interupts Starscreams corination, love it.
What TF2 really needs is Stan Bush and You’ve got the touch ;)
I like the name, Revenge of the Fallen.
I think I want Megatron to come back in the sequel. Let Unicron create Galvatron in the third one.
Anyhoo, check out these hilarious YouTube Transformer videos – this guy does all the voices and they are bang-on. Plus, his made-up dialog is brilliant. John, I am certain you’ll appreciate these.

Enjoy!
Also put a big fucking gun on Megatron or Glavatrons arm please!! It’s part of the charater!!
Lol. GoBots Do Dallas. That will keep me chuckling all day. I don’t give a monkey-hole what it’s called. The bottom line is:
Shit will blow up.
I will pay money to watch shit blow up.
I will pay more money to watch shit blow up. With Robots.
I agree! You can pretty much design Mega/Galvatron as anything you want, but it is instantly recognizable with a massive gun on his arm.
In my opinion the title is fitting well in the frame of Transformers. Its cheesy, yes, but the total idea behind Transformers is cheesy too…
But what i am confused about, i hope it remains to be just a rumor, is that two Autobots form an Ice Cream Truck. Come on, do they want to lure kiddies or fight Decepticons? Though I am fine with the rest of the rumors and i hope they wont bring the Dinobots in there, because it could be far too much for one movie with the old or new Megatron, the Constructicons, Jetfire (would be awesome) and the rest of the bots.
It could be the title relates not only to Megatron but perhaps to Bonecrusher (perhaps to form the head of the Constructicons… would be nothing surprising for me concerning Bays way of changing things or using everything as it fits the best) or Starscream (not directly fallen, but swears in the end to have revenge if i remember correctly?), too. But who knows… we will see.
just my opinion.
I agree that the title is too Empire-ish or Revenge of the Sith-ish. But otherwise, its ok.
I would like to see Galvatron. If he turns into that badass canon, it would be pretty sweet! Unlike Megatron turning into a tiny pistol being ridiculous (which is why they had him turn into a jet), a big weapon of destruction is feasible.
Problem: In order to have Galvatron, they need Unicron. But who knows, maybe they can have Unicron show up as a BIG STORM CLOUD!!!
Why not just call it Transformers 2? That’s what everyone is gonna call it anyway.
OK I can’t disagree more about the robot designs in the movies. They suck. There are a whole slew of fan films/photos out there that do a way better job of bringing the Transformers classic design into a live action scenario. Here is a great one.

This fan film looks like Optimus Prime. That stupid shit in the moive looks like to much going on. You can’t tell what the hell he’s supposed to transform from. He looks like a pile of junk with Optimus’s head stuck on there. Would it have been to much to ask to put a face with some emotion on Megatron? And if he’s not going to transform into a big gun then why not at least give him a big gun? I think they got it all wrong, all of it except Megan Fox’s ass shot.
I know it’s pointless to debate the designs now since everybody seems to love what they came up with for the film and it’s huge suckcess, but I personally think it looks horrible and M. Bay sucks the high hard one. The new film title sucks too. Revenge of the Sith anyone?
Speed Racer is a better film then the current and future Transformers movies combined.
While that was a great design of the Toy (not the cartoon) I think it would have come off a bit silly in the action sequences.
I have to a gree that the changes were indeed neccesary and I ended up liking the “Baytanical” designs even though it took time.
As far as that being the title of the sequel, I would be fine with it, if that indeed is the final theatrical title. Titles change all the time, so Ill wait untill we start seeing some marketing or another confirmation.
Megatron vs. Galvatron, hmmm. While I think we didnt get nearly enough Megatron in the first, if they do bring him back, it would make the most sense if it was a redesigned Galvatron.
PLUS Galvatron means a new toy to sell, and thats what its really about anyway, isnt it?
Yes in the fan video Prime looks like Prime but the problem is the transformation is dull, one thing (can’t stress that enough) Bay did really well was make the transformations sequences dynamic as fuck i believe this was due to the designs but that said i would had prefered the sqiuggly designs to be toned down a bit especially Megatron as he was messy as hell.
title is okay. Mega or Galva,it’s the same shit different smell to me. & i don’t see why they can’t go to Galve easily. film in general tends to take shorcuts when adapting from other mediums anyway. Campea’ll tell you this too.

Can you have Galvatron without Cyclonus and the Sweeps?
For once the title is fine and like someone said…sounds a bit badass.
As for the returnng bot, I would like to see Megatron back again…need to see more of him.
I can wait for Galvatron for the T3. The producers should approach it with caution and patience if they want to build a successful franchise.
I suspect that the Decepticons come back and cause all sorts of damage, Starscream returns and declares himself the new leader of the Decepticons just like in the cartoons.
Hopefully Megatron finally takes an Earth form as well.
Kristina beat me to it; nobody’s going to call it by that title.
Movie titles are always in flux anyway and this could change again. Remember how many title changes Fantastic Four 2 went through?
Did everyone forget that Bay was going to release a bunch of false information about the movie before it came out?
I don’t like the title and I seriously doubt that it’s real. Way too cheesy. The best thing to do would be to just use Transformers 2.
1) Cool title, I can’t wait to see if the Autobots of Lambda Lambda Lambda can defeat the evil Decepticons of the Alpha Beta fraternity and take control of the Greek Counci, all while trying to stay ahead of the scheming Dean Reggie Simmons.
2) Megatron or Galvatron… either way he’ll have 5 minutes of screen time, look nothing like his old self, and get taken out in silly fashion. Keep him as Megatron, give him an arm canon, and bring back Frank Welker.
love the tittle- but hate the idea of megatron comming back at all. i wanted to see starscream lead the decepticons and be killed at the end and have then unicron appears at the end (but unicron doesnt die)
if megatron does come back (i hated how he looked in the first one- it wasnt megatron) they need to make him galvatron, they cant have him the same way he was in the 1st one- it will be stupid if they do.
we gave megtron a chance and he blew it. didnt talk, didnt use the chain thing i love so much, he didnt have a gun in his arm like people mentioned earlier and he looked nothing like megatron- unlike optimus who was dead on perfect (the flames personalized him in my opinion- cool addition to his look)
While I don’t mind the title I can’t help but think of “Revenge of the Sith” when I hear this. Does it possibbly mean that at the end of the second film the Decepticons will be victorious and rule earth? Which again of course leaves the door wide open for an epic third installment. Well, that would be pretty cool.
Wade
woooow holy shit that does sound extremely awsome. i would like that only that without any important autobots dieing of course- and without all decepticons wiping out life on earth. but its a really good idea.
and i do think that megatron had to be changed in the movie so he wont look like he did in the cartoon- like a lego, but they changed him a bit too much in my opinion
sounds like a really cool title for a movie about cars that turn into giant robots ffs.
‘The Fallen’ is actually the name of a Transformer that works for Unicron, and was betrayed by him.
Wiki it for those that don’t believe me.
I think the title is ok and I think they should keep Megatron and use him more than they did in the first movie because he was not in it too much. When they bring him back i agree with a lot of other people, i want the huge fucking cannon. He is not Megatron without it.
no disrespect john, lenorerd nemoy is about 92, I think they paid due respect too the past. but this could be a chance to move forward…
I like the title. having Nemoy back would be amazing. I for one liked some of the Human characters and am glad that they will keep them in the next movie. It is much better than to have to introduce yet more new characters.
Galvatron would be interesting. I would have no problem with that, although I would like to see more Megatron too.
I have a correction to your post, the subtitle news broke on Wednesday, June 4 on (RR) – http://www.reserveresult.com/search/label/Don%20Murphy – and Hasboro / MB confirmed it later on June 5.
To piggy back on Slushie Man’s post.

More info on The Fallen for you.
FYI – There is a character called The Fallen in the comic books.
(Type your comment here. Make sure you’ve read the commenting rules before doing so)For Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, Paramount needs to wise up, listen to both the movie goers and fans of the original Transformers TV series and bring back Frank Welker as Megatron. In the first movie, it was thrilling to hear Peter Cullen back as Optimus Prime. He’ll be back in that role, but Welker, not Hugo Weaving, needs to be Megatron, again. After all, Cullen and Welker were the stars of the original show, and they should return as the main characters of the Transformers movie. That’s what the fans want, not only Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, but for God’s sake, they also want Frank Welker back as Megatron. Do you understand that, Paramount? Wise up, listen to the fans and bring back Frank-he can still play the archvillain in Transformers and should be considered for TF2 as well. Come on!
One character the the sequel can’t leave out is Soundwave they have to find away to fit him into the movie. He was one of the most popular characters in the original cartoon,if I’ve wrote the first movie,he would’ve been one of the main characters, instead of some of the the lame characters they actually had in the movie. If they bring back Megatron 4 the sequel,he gotta have the cannon on his arm just like the cartoon.
micheal bay already said he isnt gunna gunan end this movie to set up the 3rd one
