I'm a gears fan, and I can tell this will be a piece of shit. With people more or less acting in the games, why are they even entertaining these nonsense films? CliffyB is just so happy he's raking in cash he couldn't give a crap whether these morons ruin a game that is JUST FINE as it is.

New Line??????

Did they just rise from Warner's inferno and nobody said anything, or is this a holdover and simply the last hurrah with the name of New Line Cinema?

BTW, Torm. Not all movies based on video games"bombed" Tomb Raider, Resident Evils, Silent Hill and the first Mortal Kombat didn't "bomb". Suck the big lemon tit, ah, that's something else.

As all video game movies bomb i have no hope for this already(as a matter of fact now that i think about it, any movie made from a different source material isn't all that great with the exception of comics), but as someone who owns the game i can tell you that the premise is not half bad for a movie translation. I think ANY video game movie adaption can be good if someone just takes the time to understand that people want quality in their movie adaption and not just a familiar character of the game and a lot of explosions.

I am going to be looking forward to this. I have only played a few hours of the game but would love to see the story of future marines taking on aliens. Hopefully they dont screw it up like they did the DOOM movie, which was one of the worst movies ever made form one of the best video games ever.

The only potential hope for a good video game -> movie adaptation is Metal Gear I reckon. I had high hopes for Silent Hill and the director was a big fan of the games, but even that fell short.

In any case, the reverse is often usually the case too - most video game/movie tie-ins are also weak. The only really well reviewed example I can think of is the Chronicles of Riddick game.

The problem is that in either case, the game/movie is usually just an attempt to cash in with a known fan-base which usually results in a sub-standard end product.
