“Bitch Slap” Writers and Director

By John - July 25, 2008 - 18:53 America/Montreal

Bitch-Slap-Poster.jpgEvery once in a while you find a little film that could fly right under your radar, and you get hooked on it. “Bitch Slap” is one of those movies for me. We posted about this movie a while back and I just completely fell in love with the trailer and have been looking forward to it ever since.

So I’m here at Comic Con, and while I was speaking on the “Masters of the Web” panel, I discover that some of the cast and the writer of “Bitch Slap” are in attendance. I talked to them after the panel was over and Doug arranged for us to go meet them with a video camera for an interview. Doug covered Eric Gruendemann and Rick Jacobson (the writers and director for the film) and I spoke with the 3 lead girls (Not a bad way to spend the day)

So here now is the conversation Doug had with Eric Gruendemann and Rick Jacobson. Both of these guys did a lot of writing and directing on shows like Hercules and Xena (hence Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless are both in Bitch Slap) and Eric was even a production manager on one of my all time favorite movies, Army of Darkness.

But before you watch the interview… make sure you watch this early trailer (the movie still isn’t finished yet) for Bitch Slap:

Now that you’re ready… here’s Doug’s interview:

John, Bitch Slap looks righteous, I agree. Now then, down to business. Where’s the photo of The Movie Blog intelligencia with G4’s Olivia Munn? I should be so lucky. (tears)

  2. Jarred says:

That interview was great! “I didn’t know these guys were assholes”. Classic Nagy!

  3. Poke-E-Monkey says:

Movie looks sweet as pie. Totally over the top. Love it! Thanks for letting us know about it Doug!

  4. Jillian says:

Kevin Sorbo and Lucy Lawless are both much bigger stars than those 3 girls, who are really beautiful by the way, so why aren’t they in the trailer at all? Shouldn’t you showcase your big names?

  5. Servant Of Krom says:

Awesome job Doug! That red head is HOTTTTTT

  6. Larry says:

I don’t know. It looks a little ify to me. I’ll wait for the early reviews and if they’re good I may give it a shot. The two writer dudes do seem pretty likable though.

  7. doug nagy says:

@Jillian – they will be in future trailers for sure.

The girls should be more prominent however – they are the heroes of the film.

  8. Rodney says:

@Jillian, on the poster with “those three girls” Lawless IS the girl on the right. And the movie is still in production, so its possible that this first trailer doesnt have more Lawless and Sorbo because their scenes may not be done yet.

    Just sayin.

Also I thought it was interesting that Doug intelligently demystifies the pro feminist agenda of this movie while the super hot redhead sits silently and obediently in the Director’s lap while he instructs her not to talk. lol

  9. John says:

    Hey Rod,

Actually that’s not Lucy Lawless. Lucy (and that other girl who was her sidekick in Xena) are both nasty Nuns in the movie. That girl on the right is actually America Olivo

  10. EZELL says:

It looks like there in one place the whole movie. right outside the trailer.

But it looks like the best worst movie ever.

  11. Gutpunch says:

Is it just me or does that Mr Phoenix look exactly like Jim Carrey.

  12. CMC says:

yeah I think I’m just gonna wait until this one hits Mr. Skin

  13. Norma says:

Hi, it was nice meeting you both at comic con. I was the woman who was wearing a xena costume and we took pictures together. Can’t wait to see this movie, looks fun.

  14. angela says:

OK, I’ll be watching just for the probably brief appearance of Lucy Lawless (and the rest of the Hercules/Xena alumni) :P

  15. killer says:

    BRING ON BICTHSLAP 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.

  16. patricia says:

I will be watching mostly because
    1. lucy

    3. kevin sorbo
    4. michael hurst
