School Of Rock 2
It looks like School Of Rock will rock anew, today we have news of School Of Rock 2! Thanks to our friends over at comingsoon for the hookup!
We previously mentioned that Mike White had finished and turned in the script for a School of Rock sequel. It sounds like Paramount Pictures liked what they saw. According to Variety, the studio is moving forward with the sequel that has Jack Black attached to reprise his role as rock star wannabe/substitute teacher Dewey Finn. Richard Linklater is attached to direct again, and Scott Rudin is returning as producer.
The follow-up,titled School of Rock 2: America Rocks, picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock ‘n’ roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.
Well, I am not surprised that this is happening, but I wish it wasn’t. School Of Rock was a film that I thought I would hate, but was pleasantly surprised. It was a great kid friendly film, and I have never seen Jack Black better in a role. I think it’s a shame that this fantastic one-off film will be getting a sequel that will continue the story of a film that ended so perfectly.
All of that being said, having a class trip that discusses the roots of rock could be very cool, and if a sequel must be made – this is probably the best we could have hoped for. We will be sure to keep you up to speed on the progress of this one, and with luck, maybe the series will surprise me again.

On the bright side, at least it does not sound like a complete rehashing of the original plot / formula.
On the downside, it doesn’t sound like a rehashing of the original plot/formula.
There’s not much left to say.
There’s not much comedy to be had, other than the gags on a road trip to…Cleveland?
Meh.
“and with luck, maybe the series will surprise me again.”
Don’t hold your breath.
I’m down for it. This was Black’s best role. This is where he should return to.

theres a LOT more comedy that can be done. superbad was funny as hell and the story was just 3 dudes buying beer for a party. lots of comedies have like nothing to them if you tell it to your friend at work “yeah an indian guy and a chineese guy went to a white castle and ate burgers” but theres a lot of comedy in it
but as we all have already predicted…this movie wont pull that off and it will suck enormously
comedies dont really need a story to be funny (they usually never do)
well thats my opinion anyways
There’s so much hate for Jack in the world :(
Loved the first, and I’ll love the second!
A few days before I read this, I actually watched School of Rock again. The music and the kids are so great and funny. I love the sweet rock show at the end. If the sequel sucks so what…The first one still kicks ass! But I have hopes that the second one will be just as good.
“One great rock show can change the world!”
