Actually, the whole idea of He-Man being a tame version of action-figures for Conan the Barbarian has been dissmissed by Mattel. The He-Man figures were actually released almost a full year before the first Conan movie was released in theaters. Check it out on Wiki… it’s all credited and there’s a nice write up there.

He-man was a jungle barbarian in the mini-comic they first released with the action figure but when the cartoon started, they obviously changed his origin to make a bit more sense.

from what ive read of the script this sounds like its gonna be the He-Man flick the fans been waiting for…..but knowing how hollywood works…it’ll prolly be dumbed down and marketed towards the ipod generation…..but we can hope

All i say is that they need need neeed NEEEEED to keep the film on Eternia, Dont come to earth like the first film and muff it all up keep it as the cartoon was for-god-sake and ya need the right guy to play He-Man and ya need a young boy who looks like the guy playing He-Man for Prince Adam and please get a youg boy whos like 18 not a 20-odd guy and say hes young cos that aint it.

i laughed a little reading this, masters of the universe was bad, hope nothing close to that again. But if they manage to pump some realism into this revisit of he-man in a manner like LOTR, then i think its a cool approach. as always the story has to be solid.

anyone here remembers visionaries: knights of the magical light?
another magic|technology universe that is cool for an adaptation. :p

Indeed he was, and if i remember correctly, the original figure that came out in 82 included a comic that had him as a soft of primal Tarzan type guy who lived in the jungle, hence the funny name.

Then the cartoon came along a year later and decided his proper origin.

How did He-man come to be? Didn’t it have something to do with concept art, or action figures that were meant to be something else?
