I absolutely love Kick-Ass and I’m excited for a movie. I remember reading and hearing that The Walking Dead was being optioned for Showtime as a miniseries though. I just don’t remember where I read that at.

i dont think kick ass sucks, but i do agree that walking dead is a fantastic book….but i would rather see a tv series tho, kirkman has made a zombie epic and THE best zombie story ever made…hands down

This books sucks. I read it and it sucks. Why the fuck isn’t there a ‘Walking Dead’ movie yet…Robert Kirkman is a genius.

I love the that they are going the indie route. It’s most apt for something as sickeningly funny & violent as Kick Ass.

This is a great comic book, but only 4 issues have been released so far. As long as Millar outlines the rest of the story to Vaughn, rather than having his idea ravaged by hack writers, it could turn out to be a good film.

It is a pretty hardcore comic, in a similar vein to Wanted. That comic was seriously “adapted” for the big screen. There is no way a studio would half of that book on screen as it was. If Kick-Ass does indeed stay an independant film and retain the violence of the comic, we may indeed see something special.

basically its about a young (high school) comic book geek who wants to be a superhero….he has no powers and no formal training but still goes out in a scuba suit to fight crime….of course fighting agaisnt some hoodlums he gets beaten up….almost killed…after months of rehab he goes at it again….he sees a man getting jumped so he intervenes to help….he gets beaten up again but the guys leave the man alone…someone gets it all on youtube.com and he gets a rep…its a cool comic set in real life

The comic is actually really good. It’s very well written. It’s also super-violent. I can see why studios would shy away from it. Our “hero” is a kid who constantly puts himself in dangerous situations and, as a result, is always getting himself bloodied and broken. Kids getting beaten up is different from Batman getting beaten up.

The artist has no qualms with drawing mass amounts of blood and the writer has no problem writing the cuss words to go with that.

Put this down as a “must see” for me though. If they can capture even 1/2 the magic of the comic, it should be great.
