No. It qualifies him to be on the effects team.

And District 9 could have taken 3 years to get going, but that doesnt mean he has to wait around 3 years hoping for filming to start. Lots of directors sign on for films 2-3 years in advance and then take jobs in the mean time. In fact, many films were DELAYED because the director signed took a different job and they choose to wait a few months for scheduling. That is how things work in the movie industry.

So while I am clarifying, yes, I am aware of what a Hack is. Urban Dictionary says “a person who is a professional at doing some sort of service, but does crappy work. ” while dictionary.com says “one who produces banal and mediocre work in the hope of gaining commercial success in the arts” So without ANY experience necessary to justify his role, I’d have to say the shoe fits.

And I edited your post to remove the derogatory remarks. If you want to continue discussing, that is fine. I quite enjoy you enforcing my points. However if you want to resort to name calling you will be banned.

Could it be that it has taken 3 years to get District 9 rolling? Could it? No, of course not, these things take no time at all. Of course he was sitting on his ass for 3 years doing nothing until Jackson handed him a project and told him to get shooting pronto.
Of course. Cause that’s how this business works.

What Jackson had proved was that he could do entertaining slapstick gore films. Tell me. In that scene in Meet The Feebles where the fly is eating shit with a spoon from a toilet bowl, did you think to yourself: Now that’s the guy who should make Lord Of The Rings. Did you even think that with Heavenly Creatures? No you didn’t and I’m pretty damn sure you thought to yourself when news got out that he was going to direct them: “Peter “Bad Taste” Jackson is going to direct LOTR? What the fuck?”
That is if you knew who he was. Most people didn’t.

Gutpunch. I already said that it took 3 years for him to get a job. And your response is “Daddy Jackson got him a job just this year” Exactly. NO ONE ELSE will give him a job. If he was this amazing director why didnt someone else just scoop him up when Halo fell through. Other directors get job offers when a project falls apart. Why not this guy? Thats right. No experience.

Jackson had experience. You just proved that. Now name 5 feature that Neill Blomkamp has directed.

You have proven my point. Jackson HAD experience before he was handed LOTR. Blomkamp has a few amateur films. And ALL those guys you ranted on about climbed the ladder too. They didnt get tentpoles on their first times out yet.

Why do you automatically think that if he’s not been attached to a feature project (that we know of) since the project died nobody is interested in him. If you actually looked you would know that he is directing a Sci-Fi film called DISTRICT 9 for Peter Jackson that’s slated for next year.

This idiotic notion that nobody who hasn’t directed a feature shouldn’t be allowed to direct feature films is just bizarre and doesn’t make one lick of sense.
And again I like to point towards other “nobody” “hack” commercial directors that sort of prove you wrong yet again. Ridley Scott, David Fincher, Michael Bay, Alex Proyas. All hack commercial directors who had never even delivered coffee on a movie set before directing their first groundbreaking feature films (well maybe not Bad Boys but you know what I mean).

Millions of people have seen this man’s work, they don’t know his name but he has amazed people all over the world with his creations, including you Rodney.
And let’s not forget that it has him that pretty much got the ball rolling for the Transformers film.

Its nothing personal. It is just reality that people have taken this nobody, that if not for Peter Jackson sitting him on his lap NO ONE would have ever cared about.

Its not even hatred. I just don’t like to see nobody’s getting jobs that established and experienced directors dont get just because someone makes a bullshit call while riding his own declining wave of popularity. If Neill was as good as Peter said it wouldnt take him 3 years after the fact to get a job directing. Everyone seemed to jump on the bandwagon and took some hack short films and some commercials and decided he was god? Sorry. He didnt impress me at all.

The studios wouldnt take a chance on him even with Peter waving his flag, and frankly the studios wouldnt take a chance with what Peter was smoking then anyways.

My point about my trophies are that you attempt to give credit to Neill with the mention of his “awards” which are NOT for directing a feature film.

Sure, they give him some experience and someday this guy might accomplish something, but there is no reason to give this guy a film like Halo when all he has to claim for ACTUAL experience is some effects.

Give him an effects job. He is qualified for that.

Still doesn’t answer the question on why you insist on calling him a hack.

Did he do something to you cause you are so fierce in your hatred against this guy. It boggles the mind. Especially since just about everything you’ve said about him is wrong, especially that last sentence, so wrong on so many levels.
