Rudd Ready For Anchorman On The Moon

We have some chatter from Paul Rudd and Adam McKay about an Anchorman sequel thanks to our good friends over at MTV:

“Last I heard they were starting to write it and they were thinking about setting it in the eighties,” Rudd said. “[But] I know when we were shooting it [director] Adam [McKay] said if they ever did something it would have to be really weird like we were on the moon or something. I think it has to go even further if it was to work.”

“I don’t know if it’s a throwaway comment Adam McKay had made at some premiere or something. I think [he’s]’s interested in the idea. I think Will [Ferrell] is too,” Rudd told MTV News. “Certainly it was so fun to make that if they were to do another one I think we’d all be really interested in it.”

I would warmly welcome an Anchorman 2. I think McKay is pulling our chains when he claims that it will happen on the moon, but I am confident that whatever they decide, it will be just as ridiculous. …..I however, would be game for an Anchorman in space.

For the sequel to work; the news team must get back together. I would very much like to see Christina Applegate back as well, but writing her character into the sequel may bog down the script with continued romance from the first film. I certainly hope that they can smith a solid script that includes Applegate, her performance was outstanding in the previous film and she deserves to be in the sequel as much as anyone.

International Friends – are you excited to Ron Burgundy back in the saddle, or would you prefer he be done at one.

Ron Burgundy in space is one of the best out-of-left-field ideas I’ve ever heard for a sequel. The only way this could get better is if the news team traveled back in time and fought the Battle of Waterloo for “Anchorman 3.”

YES….it doesnt matter what its about, as long as ron burgundy is back on the big screen i will see it…..best character ever….and brick better come back….

  4. Quinn says:

McKay was on Creative Screenwriting Magazine podcast from 8/9 and he mentioned that Anchor Man 2 will be not his next film but the one after that.

Excuse me while I go put on some more sex panther…..

    Never saw the first…

I absolutely despised the first one. I didn’t think it was very funny at ALL, except for a few minor parts.

Although on the moon is a very interesting concept, I will agree.

  7. Gimplord says:

At last “Wake Up Ron Burgundy” comes out in the UK on DVD on Monday.

I remember the first time I watched Anchorman and kind of thought it was OK. Then when you’re channel surfing through the Sky movie channels and it was on I’d stop and watch it and each time it got funnier. Now it ranks as one of the all-time funniest films alongside Airplane.

A sequel would be fantastic. How about Ron Burgundy Gulf War Correspondent?

    What’s that Baxter?

No, you’d have to be quarantined.

  8. chris (the real one) says:

experts say 60% of the time it works everytime….
    that doesnt make sense

that is a pungent aroma…it burns the nostrils…..

  9. BobaFett says:

Here’s an idea NO SEQUELS!!! HAVE AN ORIGINAL IDEA! Like the first Anchorman.

  10. Mr. Chris says:

“Ron! I’m falling off the moon!”
    “Brick, get back down here!”

    So much potential.

  11. Ob-Wan Kubrick says:

They could visit the MIR station in the 80’s!
