We saw Appaloosa yesterday, husband a western fan. We did enjoy the film, but, we both noticed that we saw several scenes very familar in another TV show , or movie & it's driving us nuts. The new house scene where Ally hits on Everett, bringing Ally to the train w/Bragg, watching the nude /water scene all this we've seen before! We watched Deadwood,
Lonesome Dove, many western movies but cannot put a finger on it.
Can someone put us out of our misery? God, I hope we wern't Ambien sleep movie going. Help! Thank you.

Thank you.

There simply aren't enough movies in this genre, nor those as good as Appaloosa. Nothing since "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly or the early Clint Eastwood 60's & 70's films.

I Hyped Appaloosa on Everhype and gave it 93% which I think is fairly accurate.

I wouldn’t mind getting some opinions on it . If you get on there, rate me a 5 & request friendship.

Agreed on the Ally French character. Unlike Rocky (and the like). Her character ruined the film.

I also thought the film was a bit choppy, as if some storylines were left on the cutting room floor. Sadly, it wasn't a long movie, but it seemed like it.

If you want to see almost all the good scenes, all you have to do is watch the trailer. I did not get how some reviewers claim it to be action and suspense-packed. I found it to be slow, even though the action sequences were good.

RottenTomatoes also gave it something like 50% but now it rose till 75-80%.
Was it worse than History of Violence? These two heroes were damn good in that movie. Did you like that one John?

This review is so out of touch it is unbelievable. It loses track of the fact that the main character is actually Everett Hitch as he starts off as the novice and takes on the lessons of being a peacemaker and how emotion affects one's success and efficiency. The Gunfights are the most realistic that you'll see in a western. Not the superman, one one ten that 3:10 to Yuma ridiculously ended with. The dialogue's wittiness surpasses Unforgiven's. The directing is a triumph! I am not a Zellweger fan, however, her relationships had to be a central role in the film hence it's theme tagline.."feelings get you killed". Lonesome Dove is the best western ever made in my opinion. Appaloosa is the best motion picture western that has been made to date. If you like westerns, you gotta see it.

We just loved the whole movie,, the story line, the characters and the subtle humor.. It was nice not to be inundated with foul language. Great movie and characters. Gary in Delta British Columbia Canada

I too was disappointed to read this bad review. I think Ed Harris and Vigo Mortensen are two of the best actors around, and I was looking forward to seeing this. I was hoping for a hard, gritty, realistic western, along the lines of Unforgiven (the best western film of all time, in my opinion). What a shame it is if they ruined it with an unnecessary romantic plot line and a lousy score. Maybe they should have hired Jonny Greenwood to write the music...
