Boreanaz and Gugino for Green Lantern?
After comparing concept art for the new movie it would appear that fanboys think they figured it out. David Boreanaz and Carla Gugino as the Lantern and his love. Geekfiles speculates:
Of course, this doesn’t mean Boreanaz and Gugino will be cast but it does show who the creative team had in mind for the roles. And they are not bad choices either, although fans have mentioned other names for the Green Lantern role including Nathan Fillion, Josh Duhamel, Jim Caviezel and Ben Browder.Boreanaz, 39, best known as the character Angel in TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, has been one of the top choices, and this was strengthened when he voiced Green Lantern in the animated DVD movie Justice League: The New Frontier, in 2006. He has also appeared in TV series Bones and in the finale of the third season, his character Special Agent Seeley Booth was shown reading a Green Lantern comicbook as he lay in the bath.
Gugino, 37, has had roles in numerous TV shows including Spin City, Chicago Hope and Karen Sisco, and was in films including Spy Kids, Night at the Museum, American Gangster and next year’s superhero movie Watchmen, in which she plays the original Silk Spectre.
When I saw it, I can honestly say I SAW it. I think this would be a good fit. Boreanaz does work well on Bones and plays a completely different character than he did on Angel, so he is showing some flexibility.
I am surprisingly good with this. Honestly, it looks good. And frankly I think after that Jack Black as Lantern scare makes ANYTHING look good, but I am there for this.
Its all speculation on hints, but its a “What if” and a pretty fun one at that.
Funny thing about that is that david voiced the character green lantern on that justice league the new frontier cartoon movie.
sweet news. boreanaz rocked as angel and there were many rumors about him playing batman before bale was cast. i think he’d fit well in almost any superhero role. besides, i love to see him play angel again some time down the road.
i think boreanaz makes a picnic table look like sir laurence olivier.
i would consider it a bad choice.

Being as how Green Lantern is probably my favorite comic book hero right now (God bless you Geoff Johns), the thought of Angel himself and Carla Gugino, as Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris respectively, makes me feel………………………………..pretty damn good actually.

boreanaz is a good choice. The article makes it sound like he briefly appeared in Bones even tho he has been a cast member since the start. I think he plays a good tough guy and has personality. Could work very well.
Don’t see it happen, don’t see a Green Lantern movie happening actually. Boreanaz has proven that he can’t crack it as a movie star and will be stuck in TV land for the rest of his career. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

i know im being…naive…but when i paused my DVD and i saw will smith walking and the green lantern next to him i said “lol yeah he looks pefect”
and i klnow ive said hes “not black enough” and i know it sounds stupid but i said it because the guy from the cartoon was darker (not racist just a really detailed comic book freak…i didnt like ben as daredevil because his hair wasnt red)

To say I’m excited is an understatement! Green Lantern was always one of my favs!!
I was looking forward to the Jack Black one, but they should do a proper adaptation first before they start exploring parodies. Since the ring can go to any number of people, there’s so many possibilites with this franchise.
I am not against Boreanz as Green Lantern, he is a better choice then some really. My first choice has always been Jim Caviezel. But I have always been a fan of David so that would be fine with me. As long as they do a Green Lantern (Hal Jordon) movie I am good. Hal Jordon is the most popular Green Lantern and deserves his own movie. I have been waiting forever for a Green Lantern movie! Seems to good to happen!
I would have to agree and yes if they do Green Lantern it has to be Hal Jordan.
I love Boreanz and the idea of him as Green Latern…I could see that.
I am not really against Boreanaz he can give Hal Jordan what i want and if they try to make Zero Hour that would be kind of Angel/Angelus story but my first choice would be Clive Owen, he really can nail the role
And making an Alan Scot movie would be just worse than making a venom spin-off

David Boreanaz would be a terrific choice for the Green lantern. But does he really want his way to the big screen paved as a comic book character? Well, other actors have done well with those types of roles. I hope its a good script, and hope he gets the part.
I have been a GL fan for over 20 years.
1. It has to be Hal Jordan. Yes, there are other Lanterns all with their own following (Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rainer, Alan Scott, hell… even G’Nort.), but when i think og GL i think of Jordan.
2. I in NO WAY dislike David B., but i can honestly say that he had never even entered my mind to play the role. And, once i did hear it, i was VERY underwhelmed and kinda hope its not true.
3. While i hated the whole Justice League strategy (aka TEEN Titans) of going extremely young with actors, i think they are both too old for the roles. David would be 40+ when the shooting starts and Carla would be 38+. That’s not to say that their age shoul dbe the only factor, but it is something to consider. (Hell, i would accept a 90 year old star if it made for a great film.)
So while this news in no way devastates or offends me, i gotta think that this isnt gonna happen this way. Maybe like the article suggests that those two are more of a “template” to work off of. (Like an exec saying “Find me a 24 year old David Boreanaz” kind of thing.)
Overall i just hope it gets made. My two faves being GL and Flash and they have both been absent.

Funny you should say that, since what the execs should be saying is “Find me a young Paul Newman” since that is who the original creators based Hal Jordan on.

Green Lantern has the potential to be better than any Super Hero movie made to date including Batman! Green Lantern’s story and origin are just to good not too.

thats right man, and you can say that about flash and alien manhunter too you know…green lanterns story kicks major ass, and so does flash’s…and theyre both somewhat known superheros…its not like no ones heard of flash…
For years as a huge comic book fan I have had one guilty feeling about the major Super Hero titles that have been created. This is the fact that mostly all the great Super Heroes were created during the 30’s to 60’s when American society was totally engulfed and blinded by racism and a side effect of this was that all the major Super heroes were white.
Green Lantern has always been one of my favorite Super Heroes because of the fact that any one can become a GL and it’s not restricted to one ethnicity and when John Stewart came along I could finally present a case to my non Caucasian friends who always told me there were no black Super Heroes in the Comic book world and if you did find one it was always more a comical and idiotic spin on a character than the traditional “Save the Universe” roll of the White Super Heroes. This is why I hope that Warner Brothers do decide to go with the John Stewart Green Lantern character and cast Will Smith as GL cause it’s time for minorities to have there Serious Save the Universe Super Heroes as well. I think that would make an awesome movie.
