People let their hatred of HSM affect their judgment of him. That, and the same reason people hated Leonardo DeCaprio when Titanic was out - All the chicks dig him, so everyone else hates him. It cannot benefit from a retelling. It its NEVER going to live up to the story told in the original, and can never capture the freedom and spirit of "just dancing" that was enjoyed in the 80s. They will bash this as a "guy who cant dance in a town that banned rap music" and some rebel will come to town and teach the hick how to "krunk it" Fucking lame.
