Hulk Sequel Confirmed

By Doug - October 21, 2008 - 14:38 America/Montreal

Hulk-3Marvel suit Kevin Feige spilled his guts about the Hulk with MTV News, and we ipck up the following quote from that interview thanks to our friends at cinematical:

“Now we have a Hulk that we can be proud of and that is a better match and fits more with the tone of what had been in our comics and what we want him to be in our films going forward.” Just because there isn’t talk of a Hulk 2 doesn’t mean the character is going away — he’s just taking a backseat. “The truth is that Hulk has had two films in the past five years, and it’s time to give some of the other guys a turn. But certainly what we are doing is suggesting and cross-pollinating the characters between films, and like reading a comic, I’d like to set that expectation that anything can happen – and anyone can pop up – in anybody else’s story. I would expect that people may see the Hulk again soon before he is again carrying his own film.”

Ok so we can expect another Hulk film, but we probably will not see it until the new Avengers film comes out. That suits me just fine, I would like to see everyone else’s story unfold before we return to a Hulk sequel. With luck all the films leading up to the Avengers film will be quality; and the Avengers will be excellent. Marvels strategy of tying everything together really depends on strong parts coming together in a glorious crescendo. If anything comes up short, I think the Avengers film will suffer for it.

In the next Hulk film, I would like to see even more smashing and throwing. I liked the action in the last film, but was very disappointed in the finale of the final fight scene. All the air was let out of the tires for me near the end of the film and really left a sour taste in my mouth. Overall though, I liked the Hulk and look forward to a second installment. The first film had the feel of a chase movie for most of it, and I’m wondering if they’ll continue with this feel in the sequel.

I am guessing the Avengers will have a lot to do with how the story of Hulk progresses, so now we wait and see.

    Oh shit!

  2. T-Vo says:

I actually like thought the Hulk was more action packed than Iron Man. Obviously, Iron Man was an origin story but seeing Hulk do his patented “Hulk Clap” was worth the price of admission. HULK SMASH FTW!

  3. john says:

I just hope they can bring Ed Norton back.

  4. HAZARDOUS MATERIAL says:

hazmat thinks it would be good to base it on world war hulk or planet hulk!!!

    OR

have zaxx get his powers and fight hulk and then have someone hire a technology based hitman (cobalt man) to try and kill hulk

thats a sick 2 villain movie with plenty of action

zaxx would send lightning up hulks ass and cobalt man (who is like ironman but silver) doing some crazy shit

  5. doug nagy says:

If Norton isn’t back – the Hulk franchise will be a jumbled mess

  6. To me this sounds like Marvel is only interested in the HULK character and NOT Bruce Banner. That is a huge mistake and pretty much spells the end for Ed Norton in there plans! I could be wrong but that’s my gut feeling!

  7. Gordon Shumway says:

without Norton Id be tempted to use Hulk in Avengers without any human bruce banner at all.

  8. Dragonslayer says:

I’m for it. I wonder if Doug will give the sequel a 6.8 as well…

  9. Sparky3000 says:

I do hope they can get Norton back.

    And @ Gordon Shumway
I could easily see them going all Hulk and no Banner in Avengers, although I would like to see him, even if it’s just one scene.

“Now we have a Hulk that we can be proud of”

    lol.

  11. Brandon says:

All I can sayis Mr. Fix-it

  12. Shane says:

If Hulk pops up in cameo roles, it should only be as Hulk. No need for Banner. Banner is not that much of an interesting character IMO, not like Bruce Wayne of Clark Kent. Really, there’s only so many times you can put up with the story of Banner trying to suppress his inner monster before you just get sick to death of it. There’s never any real character development with Banner, just the same old stuff over and over.

Hulk was a good “action” based action movie. It did what it did quite well. But next time around, I’d like to see even less of a focus on Banner. That story has been told. Why not spend some time on other aspects of the Hulk character like Joe Fixit, or Smart Hulk? Either of those persona’s could bring a whole new angle to Hulk that hasn’t already been played out.

  13. War-Journalist says:

I think the sequel should be like so: Bruce is finally understanding the Hulk, and controlling it. Unfortunately, a new persona has appeared: The Grey Hulk(Joe Fixit for the comic-readers). While Bruce sleeps he changes into his own Hyde, and causes havoc for fun, ruining Bruce’s new “hero” rep, and getting the General down his neck again. And on top of that, The Leader(Sam Sterns from the lab) has become a gamma mutate as well, and has begun experimenting with Bruce’s blood, producing more and more gamma monsters. Bruce must eliminate the Grey Hulk, as well as stop The Leader from perfecting his gamma army. Perhaps ending with Bruce & Hulk becoming one(aka smart hulk)?
I also hope they can persuade Norton to come back. You are on top of this shit Doug! It’s too bad we’ll never see you on Uncut again. You’re the random yang to John’s serious yin. What will we do without you?

Just watched all the deleted scenes on the DVD and I thought they were awesome. They weren’t action-packed but rather dialogue-heavy. And the dialogue was great. This is one instance where I would love to see them double-dip on the DVD and give us an extended version with all the clips restored. Doc Sampson’s character was great (BTW that dude should be tagged if they ever remake Psycho (again) and need a new Anthony Perkins!) His relationship with Betty was great to see and added so much to the story. Also, the extended conversation between Blonsky and Ross was fantastic. Ross had soooo much more development and reasoning than was in the theatrical cut. This Director’s Cut would rival Daredevil as far as improving the finished product.

  15. FilmZone says:

Cool, I’m actually looking forward to this! I just hope the movies dont get worse and worse like Spiderman did.

  16. SlashBeast says:

The Incredible Hulk was way better than Ang Lee’s Hulk but I thought that one of the weakest points of The Incredible Hulk was the ignoring of the complexities between the character of Bruce and the Hulk. One of the original Hulk’s strengths was that it got the whole bit right about the Hulk being a manifestation of Bruce’s anger from his childhood. I think the next film should touch back on the subject but not in the ultra-serious way Ang Lee did.

  17. FunkyMunkey says:

    Whoppee fucking do…

  18. Dragonslayer says:

I’m actually not excited for a another Hulk

  19. aaron says:

i loved the incredible hulk, i mean, LOVED, the first hulk was so fake i just–dang that was a dumb movie. i want another hulk, only if Norton is back, if not, oh crap!!

  20. David Sabia says:

The movie was good. Can’t say it was one of my favorite movies out there but it was good. The only thing I had a question about was, I thought the more the hulk got mad, the bigger and stronger he got. But I did not notice him getting bigger or stronger. Also did anyone else notice Terrance Howard at the end of the movie? Does that mean they are in the works of making Justice League?
