GI Joe producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has spilled some of his guts about the film with the good people over at MTV. Check it out.
“We are in post-production, and it’s looking really good,” promised super-producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura recently, marveling over some of the early “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” scenes he’s been working on recently with director Stephen Sommers. “It’s going to be really fun, and it’s going to be big.” “There is going to be two or three really large sequences in it that are really going to blow people away,”
di Bonaventura said that he and Summers are cutting their movie with both newbies and loyalists in mind. “I think the core fan base that read the comic book and watched the animated shows are going to feel like we really honored their experience,” he promised.
I am always glad to hear good things about a film that I want to rule. I will not lie to you, it gives me warm fuzzies, and fills me with hope. Then reason kicks in, I remember that I was born to die, and that di Bonaventura will always say good things – because his money’s on the table.
As skeptical as I am about the upcoming GI Joe film, I still want it to be good. It would please me greatly if the film kicked ass. I certainly hope this is the case and anxiously wait for my time to see the film and give it a verdict of my own.

I think GI Joe will do fine their’s reason for it to suck.
I want it to be sooooo good but what I do know for sure is that if it does suck, the hate for it will be much stronger than from people who didn’t like Transformers. This film does not have the mighty voice of Peter Cullen backing it up.
It’ll just be another one of those movies that tries to adapt a TV show and completely misses the point of it……but lets be optimistic.
You know I would think that this would be a movie best suited for Michal Bay instead of Transformers. He loves explosions, romance, military transpots etc etc. But the only thing I seen that was good was Snake Eyes. That pumped me up and raised my hopes for the film. After that casting choices were poor, story is gonna be dull and the costumes are soooooo stupid. I really cant see my self paying $10 for a movie that I feel so strongly thinking it could be dissappointing.
“casting choices were poor, story is gonna be dull and the costumes are soooooo stupid.”
People said the exact same thing about X-Men before that movie came out.
I really want this movie to kick ass, but I can’t gather the hope. The most I’m hoping for is a fun popcorn flick.

Thats not true. I thought Patrick Stuwart was a great choice as Professor X. In fact an old issue of Wizard magizine picked him as a good choice for the character even before the movie was concived.
The only reason people felt negative about the film was before the fans seen the production photos or trailers. After that the excitment for the film grew.
Hoever, the only good news I heard from the G.I. Joe film was Ray Park as Snake Eyes and his costume. The rest of the cast and costumes as well as story premise sounds terrible to me. I dont even think the trailer would change my mind.
I think he was referring to the costumes Grave not only the casting.
What! The costumes in X-men were fine. All I remeber hearing was stupid fan boys crying because the uniforms were not yellow and blue which would have looked really bad.
