This is the news of the day, possibly the year. Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will both soon be vying for the attention of the Streep in an upcoming Rom Com. We get wind of this film thanks to the good people over at cinematical:
If you were checking out the casting bites back in August, you might recall that Meryl Streep was looking to sign on to a new romantic comedy penned by Father of the Bride and Irreconcilable Differences scribe Nancy Meyers (which Meyers will also direct). The film was said to focus on a love triangle, and now Variety reports that the beaus fighting for her affection will be: Alec Baldwin and the just-signed Steve Martin.
But still, we know nothing about the plot other than the fact that both will play rivals fighting for Streep’s affections, and that this mysterious project will leap into production during the month of romance — February.
Well this trio couldn’t be more packed with awesome could it? If there was even a chance for Martin to return to his cinematic A game – this is it. Competing against Baldwin for the attention of Meryl has me itching with anticipation. I have high hopes for this one. I normally have no love for romantic comedies, but will wait in line for this one.
With luck we will have some more details for you shortly. Martin was in a fight for love in Shopgirl, and although that film was alright – I have a feeling that this outing will be much funnier. Again, this is a trident of excellence and I have no doubt that it will stick us deep with the pangs of laughter.
International friends – what do you think of this news? Are you as excited as I to see what magic comes of this human concoction of excellence?
