Zac Efron Tapped For Pirates Of The Caribbean 4?
This news could be fake, keep that in mind but word has been loosed that Zac Efron has been cast for a role in POTC 4. WE get the following scoop from our friends at cinematical:
The latest rumor hitting the high seas — MTV UK reports that Zac Efron has signed on to star in Pirates of the Caribbean 4, for the prime sum of 6 million pounds — a deal that would also glue him to another HSM sequel. But rumor control is already in the works. MTV, stateside, reports that this all came from The National Enquirer, and that there’s no truth to the story. They talked to Efron, who says the rumors aren’t true, although he’d definitely be interested. Gee, ya think?
Zac Efron looks like a male version of Kelly Ripa, and whenever I buy groceries, he is usually all over the gossip rags. I don’t know much about him, but he’s in High School Musical, and some other projects that I don’t care to watch. I do hear he makes a mean reuben sandwich however.
The fact that Efron’s people killed the rumor is reason enough to assume that it’s bullshit.
Would any of you liked to have seen Zac in this film?
Hell no
I don’t think he’s as big of a douche as most people do, but he can’t act (or at least from what I’ve seen) but, if it happens to be true, I heard he’s halfway decent in “Me & Orson Welles”. With that and “17 Again” we have to face it… Efron’s here to stay. Just be glad he’s not Dane Cook.

I dont really have an opinion on Zac, but why would Pirates 4 have a character that young? The pirates in the movie should be a lot older than he is but they could be going the “Clone Wars” route
I don’t understand all the Efron hate except he’s falling under the same thing that happened to DeCaprio – Chicks love him, so guys hate him.
While he’s not that great in the HSM movies, I thought he did an awesome job in Hairspray, and with the right director, he has the potential to be really awesome.
I think Zac Efron should play every character in every movie from now on. Except the ones I like.
i like potc and hsm, but Zac is to young. no one can mach Jonney Depp or Orlando Bloom

I think the only way Efron should be in the movie is if they are doing some sorta flash back and he plays a young Will Turner….god I hope they don’t do that. But, a prequel would be interesting….to see how Jack made a deal with the devil sorta speak to get the Black Pearl….could be fun. I loved the trilogy, but they definetly need to change directions after the thrid one.

Glad the rumor is BS and I don’t care if he’s interested keep Efron away from Pirates 4!He’s utterly annoying on screen and needs to stay in the fluffy teen movies where he belongs. In my opinion he was utterly miscast as Link in Hairspray.

On the surface, I am, like others here, not crazy about the idea and, (like others here), hoped the rumor is bogus. Then, I started considering…and I am very happy. Coulda been Corbin Bleu -who actually might have made a better rumor.
In any case, I’ll go out on a limb here, and say this:
it would not shock me if Zac (or Corbin) were in a supporting part. It is Disney’s cash cow other than HSM or Hanna Montana, and thus throwing in one of the Dis young starz isn’t that far out there.
In any case, I’m …well, let’s put it this way. In recent weeks I have been at odds with the int’l friends. This again is one of those times.
Let’s suppose dear Zac (or Corbin) is in this thing. He isn’t going to be billed above Depp. They really don’t need him for star power. Could a character be related to Will Turner? Maybe. But here’s what I would do in this odd idea
Put him in makeup and/or CGI capture. Like Bill Nighy.
Have him (or Corbin, or whoever) decked out in costume and makeup layers so well done you would never know it was them. If by chance a voice got a little deeper?
On top of this, I would like to see such talent (depending on one’s definition) to try different things and different roles. I would not like it if such casing was “Oh, the CHIX LUV Zac blah blah let’s put him in there just to put him in even if he isn’t needed”- I mean then we got a serious brain malfunction going on there. I would like an idea like this only if they offered him something a bit daring and something that would not be a distraction from the film.
So, in summary: I don’t buy it, but if there was something to it, so long as they aren’t doing it ‘just because’…I’m alright with it.

Musicals are a weird thing to me; I respect the shit out of ‘em (THEY ARE A MOVIE PLUSSSS AN ALBUM!), but typically leave me emotionally flat.
Not Hairspray, man. It felt live-ish, the cast seemed so pasionately into it, and Efron was part of that.
At the very least, he proved that it’s popssble for him NOT to suck.
Having said that, yeah don’t put him in pirates 4, what are you crazy?

I would love to see Zac Efron in Pirates 4!! Maybe as elizabeth and Will’s son. I’m so happy Depp & Rush are signed on, but I’m hopeing for knightley & Bloom as well!!!
ughh idk if id want him on or not. it might go both ways. he is pretty gorgeous but he might kill the movie.
