Need I remind everyone of a series than only ran for 3 years and was cancelled. It was the movies that made Star Trek famous. It also took 10years from the end of the Original TV show till the first movie was made in 1979. So there is still hope for shows like Arrested Development and Firefly. If it wasn’t for TV’s getting a shot at the big screen then Star Trek would have died along time ago. Need I remind everyone of a series than only ran for 3 years and was cancelled. It was the movies that made Star Trek famous. It also took 10years from the end of the Original TV show till the first movie was made in 1979.

I'm a huge AD fan but I kind of liked the way the series ended. A downside to it was that it was so in-jokey. It was hilarious if you watched every episode consecutively because the the running jokes that spanned multiple episode. I think it was overwhelming to the casual viewer who would see one random episode. I really don't know whether the AD style/format of comedy would translate better to the movie screen. Hmmm, I dunno.
