Oh whatever, finaljoe. I’ve seen plenty of Korean movies which use that particular visual style, which was not invented by freaking Fight Club.

It doesn’t even look that much like Fight Club anyway, I don’t know what you’re on about.

To Hollywood big shots,

Please don’t do it. Hollywood has the incredible potential to destroy any adaptations from Asian movies. It is proven beyond any doubt that movies like Ring or Seven Samurais cannot be translated to a Western “boxed” film structure. Forget it keep on doing films like “Beverly Hills Chihuahuas” don’t mess with something that is eons away from your capacity.

To Frank Miller: Remember ROBOCOP 2.

great movie! Second one i saw after “Friend” and then i decide i wanted to get more into Korean Cinema. I think it’s too grimy for Spielberg/ Smith though…

I can’t imagine Willy Smithereens having the “darkness” needed for the character

if this comes state side it should be done by Cronenberg
or if not him then Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino or Neveldine and taylor or anyone who could bring the grit and ultra violence it needs. I was not a fan of the incest theme, i just didn’t buy it as a strong enough motivation for the villain, but that is just me. Everything else about it rocked. As far as Smith goes, he could do it, but i would rather have someone like Mickey Rourke who has the ability to create that sense of a damaged threat.

Basically most of Asian is in some form or way having characteristics of Hollywood. After going through much censorship this countries look to thriving cinema at the time when the censorship was lifted, hence being influenced by American films.

Uproar has started because, Speilberg proved he has no drive anymore that has to blatantly clear by Indiana 4. After years of creating amazing films, he has been tainted by the business end of things. It’s time to get new blood in the system, maybe if he was producing it, that’s something totally different. Will Smith playing Oh Daesu is hilarious, there is no way he watched the whole thing and thought he could do it. He must have saw the drunk tank scene, heard there was a girl involved and thought Hancock 2.

Here’s the question I pose to you:
Why make a remake something knowing that it will not live up to the original?

Gary Oldman would be the only person I want to see playing “Oldboy” that’s it. He can do this character justice. No one else will.

Try Chang-dong Lee films like Oasis and Peppermint Candy.

Ji-woon Kim is awesome: A Tale of Two Sisters, The Foul King, The Quiet Family, A Bittersweet Life.

Ki-duk Kim is also fantastic but an acquired taste. See: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring, The Isle and Samaritan Girl

Save the Green Planet! is absolute bonkers. Deserves a cult following in the vain of Evil Dead 2 or Braindead
