War Monkeys
We have word today that Sammo Hung will be battling crazed monkeys in War Monkeys. We get the following scoop from our friends at the movieweb:
Sammo Hung will star in War Monkeys, a horror comedy from the indie arm of Dark Horse Films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Munroe (TMNT) is in negotiations to direct the film for Dark Horse Indie.
The horror comedy follows two janitors who, during a Christmas holiday, get trapped in an underground research facility after accidentally unleashing military-trained Rhesus monkeys. Hung is one of the janitors who battles the rabid simians.
This is ridiculous, outlandish and peculiar ….. and I love it. I was first told about this picture yesterday on the 2PM live show. Beefy Kung Fu legend Sammo Hung is a great casting for this picture and I am certain my friend Wintle will be delighted at this news. He’s the biggest fan of Hung that I know and this film certainly sounds like it will be memorable (good or bad).
This project is reminiscent of crazy 50’s Sci Fi films where science goes awry and ends up twisting nature into new, unknown threats.
We will be sure to keep you updated on the progress of this film. I am very interested in learning about its progress and hope to see it with a number of friends in a packed theatre.

This sounds mad, in a good way. Sammo is so underrated in the west, hes at least the equal of Jackie Chan, better in some ways. I hope this is highly stylised and twisted and violent, not kiddie fare.
This sounds like the best movie idea ever. If this film features little monkeys wearing over-sized commando helmets and carrying around rocket launchers, I’ll be there opening night.
I’m surprised I haven’t heard of Sammo Hung before. Reviewing his filmography and watching some of his older stuff, this guy looks like he could be one of my favorite actors.
yes!! an original, unique idea….bravo! the concept is brilliantly insane…and having the master sammo hung attached makes me very interested….
see hollywood there are some new ideas out there….u dont have to make inferior versions of classic movies

good list marty….wasnt a huge fan of meals on wheels until that last fight with jackie and benny the jet…..but dragons forever is a classic

ahhh, if you disbelievers only understood the impact Sammo Hung has had on modern cinema and the contributions he has made you would not be dissing him. It was Sammo that first combined Kung Fu movies and Horror, please do yourself a favor and find the movie entitled Spooky Encounters! Totally insane and this crazy movie defines the entire genre’
I for one can say I am a big fan of Sammo and will be excited to see this. Give him a chance, you dont know what you will be missing if you dont.
