If memory serves, Alan Moore has said that he doesn't approve of the movie versions of his graphic novels because they don't hold up to his vision for the works themselves.

Read the graphic novels of "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and "V For Vendetta," and you will notice that there are differences between the graphic novel and movie versions. Namely, the movies are more hollywood-ized.

If Moore is upset with the Watchmen movie, certain elements have been altered from the graphic novel to make it more hollywood-friendly. The continuity of the story is probabally shuffled differently than the graphic novel reads (similar to V For Vendetta).

Hopefully, the story remains just as strong with the presumably-altered elements.

Hazmat, he is a very strange hermit writer... he doesnt own a TV and thinks Hollywood is a joke so he doesn't go to the movies. He doesn't care what movies people make based on his works because he will hate it no matter how good it is.

@James McCullen, you should read up on Alan Moore. He is a crazy hermit who purely hates Hollywood and doesnt even watch TV.

The quality of this movie has NOTHING to do with him taking his name off it. He wont take any credit for movies made on his works.

Alan Moore, the writer of the Watchmen graphic novel, wants nothing to do with this movie. He insisted that his name be left off the credits and that no reference be made to him.

That, I imagine, tells us how close to the tone of the graphic novel this movie is.

Zack Snyder AND J.J. Abrams were together in Paris last thursday to show 30 mn extracts of Watchmen and Star Trek to the press. I was there and I must say it was awesome.
It's hard to describe what Watchmen looks like but this trailer gives you an idea. The intro sequence + the intro credits (on Bob Dylan's song The Times They are a-changing) were incredible. It was like 300 meets The Dark Knight. Although the Watchmen Universe is far more complex than Batman's. I wonder if this film will find an audience as large as The Dark Knight. All I can say, it's that it's true to the comic book, not only visually. Besides that, Snyder confirmed that Watchmen would be rated R, that the film would last 2h30 but that there would be a 3h05 director's cut.
Few words about Star Trek : J.J. spontaneously said that he's never been a ST fan. he asked people to raise their arm if they were not ST fans. Most of the journalists in the theater raised their arm (ST has never been really popular in France) ; then Abrams said : "I made this movie for you !" Clever, huh ? From what I saw, ST is a big blockbuster which is closer to Star Wars universe than to ST. There's a lot of action and humour. Can't wait to discover those 2 movies!

YES PLEASE.

I hope to hell they get EVERYTHING thats in the graphic novel, but then I suppose the film would be too long.

Most anticipated film of the year for me!
