The New Daughter Looking To Cast Creature Actor

Costner-1It looks like the upcoming Kevin Costner film The New Daughter is going to be a supernatural thriller….and they still need a monster actor! We get the scoop from our friends at Bloody Disgusting:

While chatting with one of our buddies we stumbled on to some really cool news about New Line Cinema’s The New Daughter, which stars Ivana Baquero and Kevin Kostner. The film is being sold to us as a supernatural-thriller, but what they haven’t revealed is that the film will feature a creature and that casting is currently underway for a “creature performer”. Here’s what I’m told they’re looking for: Someone physically capable of animating the character. They must also be ultra thin – bordering on emaciated. They also must be comfortable wearing full coverage facial make-up appliances with limited vision. Actors must be comfortable with full body makeup application process.

Here you go kids! If you are super skinny and can fit through a cereal box, you may be able to score a super kick-ass job in a monster suit! I think it is awesome that they have sent the word out, and let it be known what they need. Anthony Daniels was super skinny and was able to wrangle his ass into the C-3PO outfit, and now he is set for life! As excited as many of you are to try out for the role, if you start to lose the weight today – you will be too late. If however you are sitting at your desk reading this and your nick name is “RIbs” you may have found your ticket to the coolest job of your life.

Man in suit monsters are fantastic and I still prefer them to CG creatures 85% of the time. When I watch Star Wars, I never think of C-3PO or Chewbacca as a man in suit, I think of them as the characters they are – because the actors pulled it off. Man in suit delivers emotion far better than CG and I much prefer it. Watch Doug Jones in Hellboy as Abe Sapien and you will know what I am talking about.
