The Eleventh Doctor is Announced Tomorrow
With David Tennant announcing he will be leaving Doctor Who at the end of this makeshift season (consisting of 4 tv movies) the rumour mill has been wild with speculation over who could fill these very well traveled shoes next.
BBCOne’s Doctor Who Confidential that will air tomorrow night will reveal who will trip the light fantastic next as the Doctor and might even give us a hint towards how this Doctor’s personality will shape up.
Head Of Drama BBC Wales Piers Wenger said, “We are so pleased to have been able to cast this person as the new Doctor. We believe the actor is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it absolutely their own – I just can’t wait to tell everyone who it is – it has been a nail biting Christmas trying to keep this under wraps!”.
I have fallen deeply into a comfort zone with Tennant as the Doctor. It was only a matter of time before someone took over the role, but I wasn’t done with him yet.
I was happy however to see the fella in this most recent Christmas special will not be the next Doctor. It was a great idea for a story, but I just wasn’t buying him as a long term Doctor.
But that just might be because of my comfort with Tennant.
The top rumour contender seems to be Paterson Joseph, but he played a minor role as Rodrick in two episodes of Doctor Who already. If he did get the gig would they write in that Rodrick was the Doctor tripping over himself in the past? Could be interesting.
So who would you like to see as the next Doctor?

My vote is for David Walliams from Little Britain.
I’m a huge Dr. fan not such a huge fan of the 2 new doctors. So, I would like to see the entire series take a bit more of a serious turn/ not quite so silly. That being said I would love to see someone like Ralph Fiennes, never gonna’ happen, but I think he would do a incrediable job.
CHARLES DANCE!
no more young drs…we need a good old fashioned old school old man dr!
I’ve become comfortable with Tennant as well. But technically, isn’t he already the 11th doctor after happened last season?
Hmmm good question.
Is stephan morphatt taking over the 4 episodes? did he take over the forgettable christmas special that passed?
(L) blink and silience in the liabry
Freema Aygeman played a small role in an episode and went on to play his assistant, a different character, so I guess they would again ignore the double casting.
He would be good, kind of got the eccentricity in him, as seen in Survivors and Peep Show.
“BRIAN

Computer says no.
as long as its a well trained theatre actor like tennant
Russel Tovey? Maybe? thats who Russell T Davies said he wanted to take over the role.
XD
I wouldn’t count on it being Russell Tovey, Mr Smith(Nice name BTW)… That was Russell T Davies’ choice, and he has nothing at all to do with who the actor replacing Tennant will be. Steven Moffat has stepped up to the position of head writer and executive producer for series five, so this one is his baby.
Personally, I’ll be pleased as punch with either Paterson Joseph or Chiwetel Ejiofor. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tennant. His version, at least for me, is the definitive Doctor. Change is a good thing though, and I can’t wait to see what Moffat and the new Doc have in store for us.
New Doctor Who announced and his name is Matt Smith

There is precedent of an actor playing a role prior to becoming the Doctor.
Colin Baker played Commander Maxil in the story Arc of Infinity. In fact he shot The Doctor (Peter Davison) in that episode.

Yes, and they explained it by stating the previous role was “her cousin”. (Oddly, Martha later wound up working with/for Torchwood)
Alas, the new Doctor is among us.
It’s funny, because I had this idea the other day and sadly, Steve Coogan isn’t the new Doctor. Oh well.
me i should be the new doctor at least my nose is in porpotion and im lovable ha ha ha ha and a bit on myself.
oh what i would give to be a doctor who character
