Twilight 2 Officially Titled “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon”
A lot of people would give me grief when I would talk about the upcoming Twilight sequel and I’d call it “Twilight 2″. They’d say things like “hey moron, the new movie is going to be called New Moon cause that’s the title of the book”. I’d always reply that there was NO WAY the sequel would just be titled “New Moon”.
I mean come on. It’s all well and good that the people out there who have read the book will know exactly what it is… but for the vast majority of the movie going audience, they’ll have no idea “New Moon” has anything to do with Twilight.
That being said, it appears that the studio has officially announced the title for the Twilight sequel. And that title is “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon”. MTV gives us this:
MTV News has the scoop on the official name and logo for Chris Weitz’s soon-to-film sequel to “Twilight.” Dubbed “The Twilight Saga’s New Moon,” the film’s official title art stays true to the look of the first movie while swapping in an orange tint, a subtle crescent moon, and the release date of 11.20.09.
I like the title. It’s a perfect blend of staying true to the titles of the books, yet ensuring clarity for the average film fan.
And yes… I did surprisingly like the first Twilight film and I’m looking forward to this one.
haha this one is shaping up to be awsome. the only thing is i hope they stay true to the book, or at least jacob’s MUCH larger part in the book. i hope dakota fanning accepts the role of jane she would be perfect. anyways i cant wait, the only thing is i worry part 4 Breaking Dawn wont get made ito a movie. the story is to “silly” in my eyes and disapointing.
I’m of the opinion that Breaking Dawn shouldn’t be a movie. I think it’ll translate horribly into the movie, but they now have Saga in the title…which eludes to more than three. If they change/edit a lot then maybe Breaking Dawn will turn out alright.
yes breaking dawn was a disaster. i’d rather they put a wedding scene at the end of eclipse and be done with it. there’s no way there will be a movie where a large art of it will be about a pregnancy that doesnt even make sense…
I agree that Dacota Fanning would make the perfect Jane but of course that leaves me wondering who will play Alec. I actually think that it will be easier to transform part 4 of the series (which i think is a great book with the most interesting story plus multiple points of view)far easier than it will be to transform part 2. In new moon she spent majority of the book depressed and sulking. They will have to cut most of the middle and the moie will end up have more to do with jacob as a wolf and bella saving edward with wasnt really the what the book was about the those are key as well.

I remember I used to have a big problem trying to figure out which book was which, cause I hadn’t read the back of them, but from just looking at the covers, you’d never know which one was which.
I’d rather they DID call it “Twilight 2: New Moon.” “The Twilight Saga” sounds awkward.

Without the 2. The Twilight Saga’s New Moon seems a bit TV-ish to me.

anyways, i dont think this is neccesary, everyone knows new moon is the sequel, as soon as the trailers come out youll GET that thats what he sequel is called and that it WAS twilight, the posters will pretty much say it all…this is a good idea but not for a movie as popular as twilight

sound designer dan and mr chris gave us perfect examples, they hsould have been at the meeting when they made up “the twilight sagas new moon”

If it’s anything like X2: X-MEN UNITED, The whole “THE TWILIGHT SAGA” may not appear in the movie itself.

Hey Dragon, it’s only a way for people to know that its a Twilight movie. The Potter movies do actually do the same thing. If after Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone they named the next movie The Chamber of Secrets and nothing else I might not of known it was a Potter movie.

I can admit hat I’m not a fan of the books or the movie (read and watched them too… so don’t even bring that up!), but isn’t labeling oneself as a “Saga” a little pretencious? I mean… what don’t the just call it Twilight 2: The New Moon?
Why do people fail at keeping to the discussion? This post was about the title for the new Twilight movie, not whether or not the movies/books suck. And if you hate it so much, why do you waste your time in every post about Twilight talking about how much it sucks? Save your breath for something you like, not something you hate.
Anyway. I don’t like the name. It is to long winded. I think it would be better titled “New Moon” and then in a sub text below that “A Twilight Sequel”. Or something to that nature. It makes more sense as it upholds the title of the book while providing the reminder that it is part of a series.
im not a fan of twilight i think its the same as any other vampire tale, but the title i think should just be NEW MOON or TWILIGHT 2….well whatever wont be seeing it anyway.
I understand why they chose to use The Twilight Saga because that is how the book series is refered in the manner.
Rodney – you should have posted a picture of the logo, it’s kind of pretty with the gold lettering using the same font as they did for Twilight.
yeah i liked the half a moon in the middle…its actually cool and different from the twilight one…but if it just said new moon….people would get it
trust me, the word WILL spread that its twilights sequel…thats the stupidest reason to change a name, honestly
well, i’ve read the four books and it was alright. although i would say that they were very “full love.” you get what i mean? stephenie meyer shows “a lot of love” in the books. maybe because it’s not that suitable for my age now, but really i’m at the exact age to read the book. i mean, i consider myself as a young adult. but then again, i love the saga! it made me sigh when i finished reading all the four. to fully understand how i feel, please have the time to visit my site:

ok people who said the pregnancy didn’t make since.. um what about a vampire falling for a human does make sense?? I love the books and thats just a part of what they are. It is ridiculous to say that Breaking Dawn was a disaster bc of the pregnancy. That was the closest thing to reality in the books.
if ur thinking that twilight should have stopped at eclipse w/ a wedding seen at the end… then ur crazy. yes, the pregnancy was confusing, but how else were they going to finish the saga. i mean… finishing w/ a wedding seen… come on. u can do better then that!!!
personally, i think breaking dawn should be a movie cuz it was pretty good, but if there is going to be a movie for breaking dawn then there should be a breaking dawn part 1, then another breaking dawn part 2… cuz, like many long books that i know that were turned into movies, had to have some parts of the book taken out in order to make it a movie. but if that can’t happen… then at least dont have the good parts of the book excluded from the movie, cuz thats just wrong!!!!!!
