He doesn't go back in time in 17 Again, either. But from what I saw of the trailer, a man falls into a river and the main character jumps in and saves him, which is exactly what precedes the strange event that occurs in It's A Wonderful Life.

Not entirely Lars, but AndyS' entire assumption is that the movie DOES suck and he hasn't seen it yet.

I have read the novelization of the screen play and its pretty good. How that will translate to the screen is another thing.

right, because if it makes money, it doesn't mean it sucks anymore.

In "Wonderful Life" the premise was to see a world without him. He wakes up one day to find himself de-aged by 20 years and tries to solve his family's problems. He doesn't go back in time. I wouldn't compare it to the christmas classic.

It does however a bit more like Freaky Friday mixed with Big.

"all these movies are pretty much ripoffs of something..."

That's an interesting way to look at it, considering that a great many of these movies that actually look promising are either sequels, action flicks, or comedies. In any of those cases, it's rather hard not to "rip-off", at least in some way.

17 Again's homages to It's A Wonderful Life are transparent, but if it turns out to be good I welcome it with open arms. It's A Wonderful Life is amazing.

Doubtful. Not only is the context of each movie quite separate, but the themes and messages and subplots of both movies appear to be entirely different. If you mean that both movies involve fighting for money...well, that goes without saying.

That depends. There was much more to NC's roles in movies like Raising Arizona, The Family Man, and Moonstruck than just fake hairstyles. Cage is an absolutely brilliant actor when he wants to be.
