G.I. Joe Resolute Clips Now Online

We talked a day or two ago about the new Cartoon Network mini episodes for G.I. Joe Resolute.

Seems this new Joe series will be a number of short 5 minute episodes shown during Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim that will gather together to form an hour long show. The show is targeted at a more mature audience and likely fans of the franchise from the 80s.

We found the first episode thanks to International Friend Rob D. (Who also lets us know a couple of the following episodes are already on Youtube)

I think the series is looking awesome. If the feature film is half as good as this starts out to be, then we are still in for a treat. I like how they maintained the classic costumes (but I still think it was wise to go with a mainstream costume for the live action film) and right off the bat they let us know that no one is safe. People die.

We will miss you Bazooka.

  1. Is anyone from this series involved with the movie? If so, then there is hope. If not, sign them up for a sequel or reboot or whatever because that is everything a GI Joe movie should be.

  2. HOLY CRAP! Watch the 2nd episode! It’s all about Snake Eyes going into this jungle and pulling off a bunch of bad ass Splinter Cell like stuff to a bunch of Cobra guards.

All very cool and very well done action.

  3. that was very cool. hopefully we can get a real series or animated movie outta this. and holy shit cobra blew up russia and killed brooklyn…bastards! -shakes fist-

  4. Yeah I read this is a test run a pilot for a possible new sears wish they would do this with g1 transformers make an adult swim version for us that want g1!

    1. BAD ASS! If that is true, that this is just a test run for a bigger thing to come, then you just totally made my day. ><

Agreed, I would kill for a more adult version G1 Transformers series with great animation. Who knows, maybe if this new G.I. Joe series takes off really well they’ll do Transformers next.

  5. Yeah this was very impressive. Im all for a G.I. Joe cartoon now. My only nit-pick is The casting of Duke. I know the actor voice from dozen of other cartoons and anime but as Duke he just didnt fit. Like the guy they got for Cobra Commander. Makes me think they should realese this in theaters instead lol. Also I like to make a statement about what Rodney said, “(but I still think it was wise to go with a mainstream costume for the live action film)”
Mainstream is such a terrible word when making an adaptation. You cant please everyone so might as well just try to please the target audience. The uniforms look cheesy. If they wanted it to be “mainstream” they should have gave them newly designed military uniforms not rubber plastic batsuits.

    1. The hightech bodysuits are fine by me. Beats the hell out of the clown ensemble they would have ended up with if they copied the cartoon.

Those work in the cartoon, but they wouldn’t fly live action.

    2. Hightech bodysuits huh? Sorry but thats not what I think they look like to me. In anycase even if they decided to use the “clown ensemble” as you say, its all about a design that fits with the style of the film. These bodysuits just dont work.

    3. I don’t see how you figure a tactical bodysuit “doesn’t work” but you would rather see Shipwreck in short pants and a sailor’s cap?

The suits do look like hightech body armour which is why I refered to them as such. And frankly if I was entering a military confrontation I would sooner have body armour than spandex and khakis anyday.

    4. Did I say I rather have Shipwreck in shorts and a sailor cap? No I’m sure I didn’t. I also sure I didnt mention anything about khakis or spandex. What the hell is wrong with just having them in modern BUs? I’m not asking for the wardrobe to be like the cartoon or anything. But if these Joes were as bad ass as they say they are then they shouldn’t need tight form fitting black rubber plastic suits. If you want something that looks high tech without looking cheesey then you should check out Metal Gear Solid 4.

    5. So they chose to go with costumes that were different than the original cartoon. But because they are not different in the way YOU want them, then its wrong and doesn’t work?

Anything is better than the silly caricature stereotypes they used in the cartoon. It just wouldn’t translate to live action.

This is as good as any change you can mention. Your preference is just that it was anything but this.

    6. I dont know why you keep thinking I want them to look like they did in the cartoon. I dont want that cause of course it would look just as silly. However, the Producer should have whispered to the director that his costume choices look just as silly. I mean look at Storm Shadow, he wears nothing but white so that is a problem right there are far as translation but you dont wanna piss the fans off. Whats a director to do? Oh have him where all white but instead of a ninja uniform we give him a trench coat! Also you wanna pull out the “but its high tech!” well in truth these suits would be a big mistake because there shiny and black its be like making a sign on there backs saying “SHOOT ME!” in any terran except darkness. They look stupid, its not useful, so its a piss poor choice. Im not alone on these either, and this is not a fanboy complaint either like Goku not being asian or Kirks wearing a black shirt. So dont try to act like it is.

    7. They are not shiny, and they are black. Just like darkness.

And while you are at it, Stormshadow is in white. Guess he has always been asking to get shot. And its not a trenchcoat.

      Here’s your shovel.

    8. Why do I need a shove? My point remains valid, the suits are black so during the day time out in the open there moving targets. Also Storm Shadow is at fault for the same issue. Unless he was in snow his costume is useless. It looks like a coat, maybe not a trech coat ala Matrix but the ninja uniform is the lesser of two evils.

    9. I don’t think you have a valid point. Black armour does not make them “moving targets” any more than a police officer does. Also Storm Shadow is at fault for the same issue? So you then admit there is no “right” colour.

Stormshadow’s white digs are better than the ninja pajamas in the show.

Some things just don’t translate well, and the costumes for uniforms works fine by me.

    10. Well thats is a good point however, were not talking about police officers or fireman or CIA agents. GI Joes are a special military branch taking on a ruthless terriorist organization. I think the last thing they want is to wear outfits that makes them easier to be shot at, blown up, or killed.
Now I know im going on a limb here but why couldn’t StormShadow have other comoflage colored ninja uniforms? You think ninja uniforms are silly fine thats your opinion. I think the costumes they use in the films are just as silly and thats my opinion.

  6. That was great. So much better then I thought it was going to be. The animation is good, story is cool, I love the new design of Cobra Commander’s helmet, it’s true to the original, but looks even cooler and all the characters seem to be just slightly better, more modern looking versions of there original 1980’s cartoon designs.

Nice job indeed for the people who made this thing.

LOL, so far this animated mini series is turning out better then most anything I’ve seen on the live action movie coming out.

    1. AGREED! >_<

Though maybe this is just a test run. G.I. Joe cartoons haven’t had much luck over the years ever since the original show ended a long time ago. They probably weren’t even sure an adult version of G.I. Joe would catch on and get hardly any ratings at all.

But if enough of us do watch this thing, I be they would turn it into a real series. They’d be crazy not to.
