Game Now Titled “Gamer” And Has New Poster

The minds behind Crank and Crank 2 will be releasing their new film “Gamer” into theaters in September (The project was called “Game” for the longest time… I like the title change a lot).

The film stars Gerard Butler and for those of you who saw some of the behind the scenes stuff at Comic Con last year, you know it’s going to be completely crazy!

“Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player (Butler) from a game called “Slayers” looks to regain his independence while taking down the game’s mastermind (Hall). ”

I dig the interactive poster too.

That’s a reeeeaaallly stupid story. There needs to be a rule for movies set in the future, they need to be possible.

  2. Jean says:

Why? Isn’t that the whole point of science fiction – and movies? To let us imagine possible futures? And everything/anything else. Things, places, people and futures that may or may not be possible, that may or may not come to fruition. The whole reason I go to movies is pure escapism – I’m not looking to find out how my tomorrow is going to go, I just want two hours of fun and entertainment. I want fantastic, I want bigger than life, I want something totally different from my everyday existence. (OK, and then I want a rom-com next week. :)) Sounds like Gamer will give me that – plus Gerard Butler. What more could I ask for?

Oh, and I too love the poster!

  3. AARON says:

It’s an ok story but that poster is WICKED!

  4. Cinema Phreak says:

Anybody check out the trailer on 360? on their site it says exclusive trailer on Xbox 360.

  5. DON says:

    totally crap.

  6. iFester says:

Sounds a little like Strange Days to me somehow.

  7. Evan says:

Ehhh, I kind of can’t stand Neveldine and Taylor. They have yet to make a movie that I have liked, or even thought was “ok”. I know this website has a huge boner for them but I can’t really see why.

Their movies are nothing more than flashy messes that appeal to the lowest common denominator.

While I might agree that the Crank movies are totally nuts and make no sense, they’re still really action packed and just fun to watch, they’re exciting to watch from beginning to end and there’s never a dull moment.

  8. Noah says:

I love Michael C. Hall so I’m Game. Get it? OHOHO. I’m ashamed of myself.

  9. Slow Kevin says:

Sounds like shit. It’s basically Tron meets the Running Man.

  10. jaffahut says:

Don’t really have high hopes for this, but I hope the directing is as innovative as I’ve heard it was in Crank 2
