James McAvoy And Elizabeth Banks Join “The Details”
For the longest time, whenever I would think of James McAvoy, all I could picture was Mr. Tumnus from The Chronicles of Narnia. But he’s shown remarkable range doing films like THe Last King Of Scotland, Atonement and even pulling off being an action hero in “Wanted”.
Elizabeth Banks is an actress I’ve said for YEARS now would be a very big deal. I fell in lust with her over her small part in 40 Year Old Virgin, and fell in love with her in Slither (such an underrated and under appreciated movie).
Anyway, the two of them are joining up for a new project called “The Details”. Our friends over at Rope Of Silicon give us the plot:
Details is a black comedy penned by Estes centered on a couple (McAvoy and Banks) who discover an infestation of raccoons in their back yard. Disagreements over how to deal with the animals lead to an escalating series of events.
Yuck… sounds like the plot for Ice Cube’s “Are We There Yet”. Well… they do say it’s a dark comedy, so lets wait and see for more details to come out. I love these two performers, but the premise of this flick doesn’t sound appealing yet.

Speaking of James McAvoy, I still need to finish Rory O’Shea Was Here. Started watching it on Netflix the other night, but had to take off and do something before the end. His acting in that is really good.
Story for this does seam a bit weak, but at the same time I could see how it could get transformed into a really dark comedy. One of my favorite dark comedies is still Very Bad Things, so if The Details can get that twisted then I am up for seeing it.
Rory O’Shea Was Here is a great film. I’m surprised it wasn’t bigger when it initially came out.
I hope “The Details” does both of their careers justice. McAvoy and Banks are very talented and deserve to play strong characters in films that are worth watching.
John I would love if you made a list of underrated actors and James McCoy should certainly be on it.

I love black comedies. The addition of James McAvoy and Elizabeth Banks makes the film more appealing. However, the premise sounds kind of thin. I have a feeling that it’s going to follow the road most black comedies end up on (low b.o. returns).
Have they started filming yet? Is James in America? I haven’t heard any updates! I’ll see the movie because he’s in it. Hope it’s good. Love Elizabeth Banks, too…
I heard that The Details director is casting Tobey( Spider-Man)instead of James McAvoy. What are you thinking director? Bad choice…….James is excellent for this role. Spider man is for kids…
