Full House Movie?

By John - June 6, 2009 - 15:19 America/Montreal

Full House was a great little show for what it was. Harmless, “moral of the story” weekly vanilla that also gave some nice laughs from time to time. And now, John Stamos (who will be most remembered as the lucky bastard who got to sleep with Rebecca Romijn on a regular basis) has decided that a Full House movie would be a good idea.

Know what? I don’t disagree with him.

First of all it should be pointed out that the movie version that Stamos envisions would NOT have the original cast. The good folks at Cinema Blend give us this:

This wouldn’t be in the form of a potentially disastrous reunion, though. Instead, Stamos wants a new cast to play the characters. He even has some people in mind: “I see Steve Carell as [Bob Saget’s character] Danny Tanner and Tracy Morgan as [Dave Coulier’s] Joey Gladstone because he’s funny.” Such justification is impossible to argue against. As for the role of Uncle Jesse? Stamos would like to see James Franco take over.

Now don’t shoot me for this, but I think everything he says makes perfect sense.

Look, the CONCEPT of a guy who suddenly finds himself alone with 4 kids, and he has such a strong friendship with a couple of other guys that they agree to move in with him and help him raise his kids is actually really solid. Make it a comedy and it marketable to boot. Add the cast that he’s suggesting and you might actually have a winner on your hands. Think about it… seriously.

Now, keep in mind that NONE of this is official. It’s just Stamos talking which doesn’t really mean anything… but if I were a producer with some money to burn… I’d take a chance on the project. Your thoughts?

    I’ve got a casting idea:

    Ed Helms = Danny

    Zach Galifianakis = Joey

    Bradley Cooper = Uncle Jesse

  2. Ryan says:

I was a fan of the show as a child growing up … and after reading and thinking about this, it would make for a good comedy. The concept of the premise of the TV show does work, and with a good cast, would be good. Nice idea if it ever happened

  3. Nick says:

Call me crazy but I’d like to see it with the original cast, see where everyone is. Maybe DJ having kids could be the big plot or Stephanie’s getting married.

  4. Darek-T says:

If they could avoid making it as bland as the original show then it could work.

Hmm I will go see it.

WTF THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA…..why cause it just is, personally all they would need to do is make a great concept based of the shows idea and lose the cheese by giving it a better title….least not one with kimmy gibler! or w/e her name was

this guy hits it dead on…..this was a crappy show that pretty much says hack all over it!.

    • Tabert says:

“this guy hits it dead on”

You bet your ass the he does. :-)

      Especially when he states this:

“These are the lives of people in picture frames. No real issues, no real dilemas, just a series of cuddly inconviences.”

Yeah, I’d pay good money to see THAT on the big screen.

  8. cloud720 says:

Was it 4 kids or 3? The olsen twins played the same person.

    • John says:

      Right you are

    • cloud720 says:

They should really make it 4. I think a huge part of the shows success were the cute little twins. Since everyone is going to remember that, they should just cast twins again. No point in making them play the same character. Should just make them twins in the script. Michelle and Elizabeth Tanner.

But yea, I would only see it if they had some famous people in the cast, but not Ben Stiller or Will Farrell or anyone else that would make it seem like they were just trying to mock what the show was.

  9. Rob says:

I wanna see Family Matters:The Movie with the big guy from Chuck as Carl, Wanda Sykes as Harriett and Denzel Washington as Steve Urkel. LOL!
    Full House SUCKED!

  10. anthony says:

  11. Mladen says:

When you strip down the general concept like that it reminds me a LOT of Three Men and a Baby…
