Fame TV Spot has a little Potter Magic

I have to say that I am a sucker for dance flicks and I expect them to have very little plot or meaning they rarely fail to entertain me. All that singing and dancing looks fun and I get caught up in it (Can’t wait for Fox’s Glee! in the fall) But I am wondering if Fame will be just like those lightly seasoned dance dramas and just give us another Step Up or will it have some heart that will make it stand apart from the fluff dance flick.

Well someone is thinking that the idea behind Fame is at least a little like running off to a fantastical exclusive school like Hogwarts.

I like how they play up on the bajillion commercials and media saturation we have been exposed to with Harry Potter and just as you are thinking “another Harry Potter TV Spot?” they turn it around.

Aside from that the TV spot doesn’t show us much more of Fame than we already have seen, but it was clever to use the Potter imagery to grab your attention for the spot.

They cant remake Fame! Can they?

Fame was a film, then a TV show. So Fame already did a “remake” of sorts.

And Fame is not so deep seated in pop culture that the simple idea of “talented kids at an performing art school” is that iconic.

Anything can be remade, especially something like Fame.

Not saying everything SHOULD be remade, but anything can. And yes, they COULD remake Star Wars (some argue that the prequels were a remake)

    • HAZMAT says:

But werent the songs supposed to be like, the popular songs of back then?

I want them to use those songs, but then itll be lame because that was 20 years ago, so i also dont want them to use disney channel songs

You cannot remake star wars Rodney, im sorry, i cant disagree more. How are they going to remake Star Wars? And Episodes 1 2 and 3 were hardly remakes, those people just dont know what theyre talking about.

Fame is one of those movies that worked back then…im going to watch it but im curious on how theyll do it

I mean- things CAN be remade, but they wont get better sometimes. Like Star Wars or The Godfather

A Star Wars remake could only be worse, theres no way they can remake it and make them better then the originals, thats impossible.

    • Rodney says:

They CAN remake Star Wars. I agree that they shouldn’t, and any attempt to would be a disaster in the making, but that doesn’t mean they CANT.

They said no one would play Joker better than Nicholson.

Anything is possible, not all things are probable.

    • HAZMAT says:

      Yeah youre right
Nicholson wasnt perfect though, it could have gotten better and it did

Star Wars is perfect, The godfather, UP, some people would say LOTR is perfect. You cant make perfect movies better

Im 100% sure that in 100 years well see a remake, but im also certain it wont be as good as the original. Not a snowball chance in hell.

      @Hazmat

“Star Wars is perfect” or your memories of the first time you saw Star Wars makes it seem perfect??? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to start a fight, I absolutely LOVED Star Wars when I was about 11 (the last time I watched them, until recently). All my brothers, cousins, and I would do was run around and pretend we were fighting on Endor all day long, every day, durring the summer. Fast forward 10 years later, when I caught all three of the originals on television a couple weeks ago. Expecting a great trip down memory lane, I turned them on, what did I find? Three very, very imperfect movies. I found SO much of it to be quite bad, I will not mention everything, but the acting. GOOD GOD! THE ACTING was downright horrendous! I could not believe it! That’s not the Han Solo I remember growing up with.

So I ask you this, do you really think Star Wars is perfection, or was it perfect to your standards when you were a kid and now you have these fabulous memories soaking into your view of the movies now? Personally, if Star Wars does anything near perfectly it’s creating wonder and escapism for children (then we can try and revisit that nostalgia later), nothing more. That’s just me though.

P.S. Don’t even get me started on the “LOTR is perfect” topic.

Okay ill start by saying that the new ones werent that bad, i liked them, i dont know why people hate them. In my opinion theyre funner then the originals IN CERTAIN SCENES, like the Pod race or the Darth Maul fight (darth maul could have ended everything if he werent such a show off)

In structure and pace, Star Wars is one of the most perfect film I’ve ever seen, yet it never loses its unpompous, unassuming verve and good humor. Its a great story, Luke is a fighter pilot in the rebel Alliance and he fights the evil empire (Darth vader/ the death star) and Kenobi shows him the way of the force
Everyone knows the moral of the story
find the greatness within yourself and remember the force will always be with you.
Its got everything, romance, humor, action (great action) murder, fantasy, mystery. Ive never met one person that doesnt like them.

And i wasnt around back then, but my dad says star wars was PRETTY BIG, he said it was like nothing he ever saw before and ever since then movies changed. I saw them and loved them.

Of course the graphics were 80s ish and the new ones looked cooler, and a part of me likes watching the new ones but the originals were perfect

I never said LOTR was perfect, i specifically said SOME PEOPLE do, quote me on that.
But yes, i do think that ROTK was perfect.

And i need not explain why the godfather and UP are perfect movies.

    • HAZMAT says:

And they were just showing a star wars marathon on G4 or spike tv…i dont remember which channel, but i saw it and yes, i liked it.

So its not the memory thing

      Fair enough
