As for the character just being himself, that’s equally as silly to say. To begin with, I don’t think you know the man well enough to make that assessment, you’re just basing that off marketing which told you the character was just like Eminem. besides, just because a character has a similar personality and motivation as he may have had at one point in his life, this doesn’t automatically mean he can play the part despite having no acting ability. That whole argument that playing “yourself” is easy makes no sense.

It seems to me a quick way of shooting down his acting ability to fit in line with the theory rappers can never act. What about Eminem? “He doesn’t count, he was just playing himself”. What about Will Smith? “He doesn’t count…”. What about Ice Cube? “He doesn’t count…”.

Maybe the whole theory that rappers can’t act, just doesn’t have any credibility. Perhaps whether someone is a good actor or not has nothing to do with previous entertainment work.
