Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Featurette Online

Half Blood Prince was always my favourite of the Harry Potter Books, so I am anticipating this film even more than its two part finale, currently in production.

And now we get a mini feature from HBO that shows some of the behind the scenes stuff and cast interviews with the cast and crew of Half-Blood Prince

This is looking mighty awesome, and despite the media saturation we are getting to fill in the 7 month gap from when this was supposed to come out, I am still looking forward to it.

  1. What the heck? The half-blood prince was the most disappointing movie yet of the series. Why did they leave the huge fight scene out at the end, it angered me. The put in a scene of the Weasley’s house catching on fire which didn’t even happen in the book, yet they leave the most awesome part of the movie out. I feel robbed, and the sad part is that they can never re-do it. The movie was alright, but what were they thinking when they left some of the great scenes out. I wish I hadn’t seen the movie at all.

  2. Ok Rodney, true on the spelling of the name. Thank you for pointing that out. I remain a fan reguardless.

I still say the ending was not what it should have been. What do you have to say about the characters that were left out? It seems an awful lot to leave out of the story line…

  3. I have been a Harry Potter fan since day one! I love the books. They are amazing!!! I was so disappointed with the way Half Blood Prince turned out! They added a ton of things that to be honest should have been left out. They should have followed the book as closely as possible! They left out the best parts! When Dumbledore got Harry… the mead cups hitting the Dursley’s heads would have been too funny. Bill and Fluor getting together, the kiss with Jenny was rediculous and had no chemistry… didnt even happen at the right time. NO FIGHT at the end and no funeral!!! What an horrible way to send off Dumbledore! Plus Jenny in a bath robe half the movie and the burrow aflame. pathetic!!! They should try again and stick to the original story line this time!!!!!

    1. I always find it funny when people claim to be die hard fans since the very beginning and then use the wrong name for someone.

There is no Jenny, but there is a GINNY. Not the same.

And excluding a funeral for a character was done out of pacing. They originally had it in there but it felt like they had two endings. A dramatic ending then a stale boring ending right after it. It wasn’t neceessary.

  4. right first off, i have been waiting far too long for this movie. So i fear that it possibly cant do itself as much justice as this awful wait.
Secondly, every single book after the second has Dobby the house elf, the movies lack sence in not adding him, an example is the goblet if fire. Dobby steals the Gillyweed from the potions store cupboard, but in the film, Neville just gives him it. WTF?! how did he get access to it when even harry cant. Dobby is so main to the books, this stepping around him is pointless and stupid.

  5. Hermione and Draco have always been my favorite characters of the movies
Lupin and Sirius in the books.

At LAST they have Quidditch!!!!! Quidditch FTW!

Unfortunately the movies dont stand a prayer against the books, never will half of it be explained and the story wont even be complete, even if they DO split the last one into a million pieces they already cant tell the whole story, they fucked up already (storywise)

    1. “Even if they DO split the last one into a million pieces they already can’t tell the whole story, they fucked up already (storywise)”

I truly 100% disagree with you on that. We all know the rule “the book is better.” But just because they take stuff out doesn’t mean they’ve “fucked it up already storywise.” The Lord of the Rings didn’t have every little thing from the book. Did they have that fucked up from the start?

And while we’re still talking, Quidditch is back motherfuCKA!!!!!! Can’t wait.

  6. Thanks for postin’ this up, Rodney. This is definitely looking to be the best film of the series so far (which is saying a ton, considering that Goblet of Fire is one of my all-time favorites). Should be fun.

  7. Yea this movie suppose to have a love story within.which will take a way a small percentage of screen time for great amazing action.but I cannot tell u how much i cannot w8(an I’m one among many)for July 14.I completely feel like roman727 on how fantasy movies are great mind re-leasers.

    1. Uh.. then don’t? No one is making you.

Furthermore you and your beau subject us to all your pet names on a regular basis, so its all a matter of subjectivity. You are more than willing to be all gushy lovey dovey when it suits you, but you can’t deal with the romances that were already in the book?

      You are a harsh mistress!

    2. Rodney, for Pete’s sake…

I love Harry Potter, but the romances in THIS particular series all feel forced to me. I don’t care about the love stories as much as I care about the mythology surrounding the series. Love stories work in some films, they don’t in others. I want to see this movie, but the love aspect is one thing that I’m not looking forward to.

      That’s all. Sheesh…

    3. I am a HUGE fan of romance, i love romance more then anything else on amovie

Now that thats clear; The romance on the last 3 HP movies have been horrid.

Ever since the 4th one it got really annoying with the silly romance. Romance plays a big role in these books, sure, but i think that its taking too much room.

Its like being broke but buying shoes everyday while theres no food in the fridge.

They never fully explained anything about the death eaters, Voldemort hasnt been emphasized enough, Quidditch has been almost eliminated, MAIN and important characters HAVE been cut out, Where the fuck is peeves? Half the weasleys are unknown….yet….the teenage romance…the one thing they could have left out…has been done, IMPECCABLY

I wont bitch about these bitchy fits Hermione throws or Harrys puberty if they got the rest right, but if they havent even introduced Bill or Mentioned Dobeys alive…then i have the right to say “What the fuck!!?”

    4. I don’t really agree with any of this. I found the love stories to be pretty interesting. (And I don’t care for romances that much) Besides, it’s part of them growing up. Now, I can understand when it comes to the romance in Harry Potter 5 (as a film). I thought that their was really no connection between them. But using the romance in the books were kinda interesting.

And on Hazmat’s comment, dude it’s a movie. If they had put everything in it each film would’ve been 9 hours long.

    5. Which is why i said it had no prayer, its IMPOSSIBLE to make a movie better then the HP books. But theres no question they could have done a better job.

    6. “Furthermore you and your beau subject us to all your pet names on a regular basis”

Now you leave Dwayne Johnson out of this sir. That’s none of your business.

And please don’t act like an arse to my friends. That kind of thing is not why we come to the movie blog.

    7. But we don’t use the comments section to ‘rib’ eachother, we come to discuss and debate in a friendly way.

All Kristina is saying is what has been said about many other franchises which have been torpedoed by badly written romance scenes when they should have been sticking to super powered people fighting and doing dramatic things. Now, I think the romance stuff has been handled very well in Potter so far and I’m not worried at all but if Kristina would rather the film gets to the wand battles, what’s the problem?

I didn’t interpret your reply to her as particularly kind but maybe that’s my problem. I’m going to stick up for my friends.

    8. Just found it ironic that she uses pet names and cutesy expressions and then complains that the movies might have some romance.

You can stick up for her all you want, but if her discussion is going to start out bashing the romantic side of the potter series growing up, I am going to remind her that even she sees a place for it where “it doesn’t belong”

  8. Number 5 was actually my favourite, i guess i’m not a real potter fan as i know a lot of people tend not to like it. The magic comes back to this one though and it’s the same DOP that did Amelie so it looks amazing. It still felt like a stop gap between 5 and 7, but a great cinema film none the less for non-potter fans.

  9. Yates looks as if he’s delivering a lot more than he did with Order of the Phoenix and I hope it’s not due to good trailer editing! I’m really excited for the 15th!

  10. HBP is one of the two best books in the series with The Prisoner of Azkaban. This movie looks spectacular. If I were only allowed one movie this summer, this would be it.

  11. I went to a cast and crew screening in london on saturday and if you are an avid fan of the book, i think you will be quite disappointed. It tends to focus (a little too much in my opinion) on the love triangles and emotional rollercoasters of the kids, rather than what i enjoyed the most about the book, the voldemort memories and the half blood prince mysteries. However, it looks great, has a great pace and has some great set-pieces. I’m sure it will be a winner.

    1. I always tend to be a little disappointed the first time around watching a Potter film because I can’t shut my brain up. The Order of the Phoenix is the only film in the series that I remain a little disappointed, but still think it’s good.

  12. The fantasy world has always been a great escape for me. These kinds of movies have always entertained me. I don’t take movies too seriously and my criteria has always been this did i smile, was i taken away for a moment. These movies have entertained me and i look forward to the final set of movies in this franchise.

  13. From day one, I was never a big Harry Potter fan.
I never really could get past it being a children’s book.
Rarely do I even enjoy movies based on books.
See, they never live up to my expectations.
    Time will tell.
