Hugh Jackman to sell Avon

By Rodney - July 15, 2009 - 08:48 America/Montreal

What do you do when every woman wants you, and every man wants to be like you. That’s right, you sell Avon!

Hugh Jackman is lining up to star as a down on his luck salesman who turns to Avon to make a few bucks.

Cinematical reports:

If Avon Man develops as it was pitched, it would be a sweet-smelling, fully-clothed Full Monty. Jackman would play a laid-off car salesman who is recruited to become an Avon rep: “While the experience is initially emasculating,” [really?] “he uses his charm and good looks to become a top seller … [and] sets out to save his financially strapped family and town by conscripting his buddies into the makeup business to win a regional contest.”

This does have a “Full Monte”ish feel to the synopsis. A group of guys get together to take on an unexpected career path and inevitably find some degree of success in it.

I don’t think it is much of a stretch to see Hugh Jackman as a clean cut, charming salesman who flashes his broadway smile at housewives wanting to buy makeup. Jackman is a charmer. And I look forward to seeing him do more comedy. So far we haven’t had much to slap a knee over with Jackman but he was pretty amusing at the Oscars.

But will this focus more on the story or will it be a 90 minute boost for Avon sales people everywhere?

He should hold those lipsticks in between his hands like claws. That’ll get them sold.

    Hugh, WHY?

Why doesn’t this guy get better quality roles? He’s hot and talented, so what’s the deal? This sounds so dumb.

This is just too damn weird.

Maybe this is the result of all us die hard Wolverine fans finally accepting him as a good choice to play the movie version of the character falling back on us, BIG TIME.
