Wow, I didn’t know they were still doing the MacGruber sketches on SNL. You’d think after so many of them not being funny, they would of stopped a long time ago. Plus these sketches are so short. Aren’t there better SNL sketches so make movies out of?

Only thing I see good about this whole deal, is having Val Kilmer play the villain, other then that it’s going to be a total waste of time and money.

It feels like a long time since we’ve had a movie based on an SNL character. Can it be this “generations” Wayne’s World? Probably not.

Sorry to disagree but SNL movies don’t have a good track record. IMO the only decent ones were Wayne’s World and Blues Brothers. Other than that they’re crap, let’s do the list: Superstar, It’s Pat, Stuart Saves his Family, Night at the Roxbury, Ladies Man, Coneheads….all bad. Again, it’s my opinion, but I feel it’s the general consensus. Feel free to disagree.

Well movies based on SNL characters have a pretty good track record. Superstar, Coneheads, Wayne’s World… I mean other than like the Ladies’ Man there aren’t too many screw ups that come to mind.
I love the current cast of SNL and as far as I’m concerned any movie with Kristen Wiig will be worth seeing (Why else would I have seen Adventureland?)
My bet is that even though Macgruber will have difficulty keeping a coherent and entertaining plot for 90 minutes or more…it will have that same silly but ridiculous quality that make movies like Napoleon Dynamite work.

I just can’t wait till Lazer Cats makes it to the big screen!!!

Geez, talk about a movie that’s destined to suck before it even starts shooting. SNL is a bad joke these days with poor writing and redundant sketches. SNL movies are like video game movies, it’s hard to find one that doesn’t suck (let’s not deny the awesome of Wayne’s World).

How are they going to make a decent full length movie out of a joke that doesn’t hold up after more than 60 seconds?? This is going to end up being a forgettable off-season movie and another bad idea out of Hollywood.
