The Hangover 2 Starts Shooting Oct 2010 – Becomes 2nnd Highest Grossing R Rated Comedy of All Time

By John - July 10, 2009 - 10:21 America/Montreal

I really enjoyed “The Hangover“. I wouldn’t personally put it in the same league of The 40 Year Old Virgin or anything like that… but I’d put it up there with Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Step Brothers.

Apparently the movie just passed the $210 million domestic mark which makes it the 2nd highest grossing R rated comedy of all time. Any guesses on #1?

Also in “The Hangover” news, Variety is reporting that they have confirmed that The Hangover 2 will go into production in October of 2010 with a release date scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 2011.

Personally I would like to see them go back to Vegas. Vegas is such an intrical part of what The Hangover is… and let’s be honest… if you don’t think there are a billion stories to tell in Vegas… then you’ve never truly done Vegas baby!

VEGAS BABY!!!!! (I’m going there next weekend if anyone wants to hook up for some poker)

Sweet, yeah I’ve tracked it’s progress on Box Office Mojo and for only being produced with 35M and to make that much is amazing. I loved the Hangover, but I have some doubts about this next one. Hopefully they will do a good job and not mess up the genius that was the first one, like so many companies do

Me and my friends are headed there at the end of the month…this movie solidified it for our summer vacation spot.

Man, I still got to get out and see the Hangover, but with Harry Potter coming out next week money is dwindling.

(John, are you going to make a trip to San Diego for the Comic Con? Just saw Thursdays line-up with Cameron showing the first public screening of footage in 3D. Sadly I can’t make it, even though I live like five minutes from the convention center. Need somebody to post their impressions though!!!)

I am stumped which is the #1 comedy then?

Im gonna go for Wedding Crashers for #1 :)

  6. AndyS says:

What are you using to track this John? BoxOfficeMojo has the Hangover at #1 and Wedding Crashers at #2.

  7. Meghan says:

Yea can’t really find any sources that have a higher grossing R-rated comedy than The Hangover.

I’d think Superbad for #1 if anything else, I guess.

    blazing saddles?

  9. Rich says:

I thought I remember seeing #1 was ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ at one point. But maybe inflation screws that up. Anyway, if I am right what do I win?

Beverly Hills Cop Was a Fucken Great Movie

  11. I love Vegas. It’s like Disney World for adults. And I loved the Hangover. But if they’re going to take the sequel back to the same place…eh, I think it may lose something. Yes there are a thousand stories that can come out of Vegas but they covered a hefty amount in just this one film (married a stripper, stole Tyson’s tiger, stole thousands from rich Asian dude who ended up naked in the trunk– I think that was my favorite part btw). Nah I think they should take it some place new. International perhaps. Amsterdam. Cancun. There are plenty of party spots in the world.

I’m just glad to see Zach getting more work! He’s utterly brilliant.

More success=more $$=more stuff from Zach’s beautiful brain being produced.

    2nd*

I really loved “The Hangover” and it was the funniest films of the summer. But I am really skeptic about a sequel. I don’t know if it will be as funny as the first. I really do pray that it does.

“I’d put it up there with Step Brothers.”

Haha, up there. Right. Step Brothers sucks ass.

  16. AARON says:

Guys, I wanna point out something. This will seem like Hangover bashing when it’s not, I thought the film was hilarious and gave it a 9. But when I think back on it…what was the big deal about this film? It’s a typical comedy. Sure it has some nice flavor to it but again..how did this become on of the biggest films of the summer? Just some thoughts.
