I didn’t mind the first Cloverfield movie. It was original in its execution and did an outstanding job keeping things quiet in a day and age where everyone wants to know what the director had for lunch.
I couldn’t believe that they kept the image of the monster a secret for so long. And the marketing was truly viral having everyone online discussing and guessing about the movie.
But now it looks like a sequel is on its way, and today we tripped over what looks like another “discovered video tape”
I am kind of hoping we just see the story of some of the other people in NY at the time instead of a “holy shit there is ANOTHER Monster” kind of story. That would be interesting instead of beating a dead horse with some sequel that doesn’t feel right.

Pretty interesting. I wonder if they’ll be able to build the same kind of buzz that they did with the first film, now that we know that it’s essentially Godzilla. I think the same story through the eyes of other people would be a good idea though.
I didn’t mind the first Cloverfield. Its one of those rare movies where you want the main characters to die (like the Scream movies). I liked the monster, I liked the mythos around it and j.j abrams is a good film maker. Say what you will about the shaky cam but I liked it. If this a viral for a Cloverfield 2 it has me sold.
J.J. Abrams didn’t direct Cloverfield.
I think a cool sequel would be a regular film from the macro prospective showing how the gov’t, military & scientists are trying to deal with this thing. The movie should begin right after they drop those big bombs at the end of the first one. They’d have to be clever with the script without it turning into just another Godzilla film, though.
When you say “ANOTHER Cloverfield 2 Video?” are you saying that there is another one? If so could someone put up the youtube link. If not, its alright.
Here’s the other one.

It’s from the same poster. In this one you see Cloverfield Blvd. Whether these are fake or not if they are making a sequel this is the best kind of marketing.
Meh. This one looks much better for some reason. And you can easily tell that the shot of the monster was just taken from the first movie. But it could be, who knows.
If it is a sequel, I’ll be sure to steer clear from it. Cloverfield was awful.
Yeah, Cloverfield was a good movie, one of the best of it’s year.
I am anticipating the second one, hope they will show more from how the authorities tried to deal with the situation.
Or maybe another story of some folks, but not a love story, i think they are boring.
Woo! I’m pretty excited too!
I love life-like catastrophes like this.
The only thing that worries me is that this could be fake. I’m seriously hoping it isn’t because I LOVED Cloverfeild. It was the first movie to actually scare me EVERY time something jumped out at you. If there’s a sequel I’ll be there on opening night!
I can see where you’re coming from. That ending DID seem a little abrupt — abrupt in that…idk…she was on the ground but there wasn’t any debris, no noise far off in background. Just seemed kinda plain. But I liked it and hope they head in a different direction.
Im looking at this movie from a few angles. We could be lucky, and this could in fact be a sequel to cloverfield, but a few things strike me as odd.
#1 When we are introduced to the monster in the first movie it is very late into the night, and yet here it is in the middle of the day. Very minor though.
#2 Lack of military footage. All of the footage seems to be from day to day life. No real anarchy or sense of panic.
#3 Her very quick and abrupt death that seems to be caused by absolutely nothing seeing as no rather large “boom” was heard or anything.
So this really can be 1 of 3 things. A sequel to cloverfield, a different horror movie involving people who die instantly from some kind of disease (?) and some kind of documentary made by some survivors, and maybe its nothing at all. There are simply no effects or anything special about this video. It may just be nothing, passed off as something.
Sorry for the essay :/
Just watched it again (I was on my iPhone earlier) and a few things to go off of what you had said..
1)The girl talking and her abrupt death have her wearing the same clothes…so life and death must’ve been pretty darn close. The gravel she’s lying on looks like the same she’s walking on..so she died on the roof. Also, she could’ve been knocked unconscious by something.
2) The video shows a brief glimpse of NY at night..so if this IS a Cloverfield footage, then that means she’s recording OVER the event. That would explain the military during the daytime, because this could be after the “terrible tragedy of Cloverfield” when the military is patrolling NY and helping get things back on track after the huge blast (I have a small problem with that, because you’d think her view of NY would be different if a giant bomb went off there…and Central Park is completely intact). Also, if you stop the video just right, you see a man and a little girl sitting on a subway not looking too happy. Relocation? Idk.
So..3 theories.
1 – She taped this, the Cloverfield incident occurred, she ended back at her apartment and died there or got knocked out. I can’t tell if it’s nighttime on the footage, but it certainly looks a little darker.
2 – It’s a different kind of teaser trailer where the scenes of the Cloverfield incident were spliced into the footage as part of the trailer to tell us we’re going to see another POV of the night.
3 – Completely different story (see above)
Sorry for MY essay.
Well. I see no flaws in your argument. But as of right now, it could be anything. It’s just that it may be nothing at all. Like, there’s no real special effects that make this stand out as something. But who knows right?
Well, there it is for John, more shaky cam action!
He’s Rodney this time.
lol thats funny
How does this have anything to do with Cloverfield. It looks like some homemade tape. The movie didn’t seeme too much like that. You can tell when they were using different cameras in the movies too. From the beginning and then the middle and end. Not the same camera. This, to me, has nothing to do with Cloverfield. If it does, they ruined it for me.
Just some cynicism from your reader
i thought visually the first one kicked ass.
the scene in the subway with the fleas totally rocked.
the hand held camcorder style is a lotta fun if its done well with lots of textures and stuff.
interested to see what they would do with it a second time.
What would be awesome is to see Cf 2 with Taylor Rain as the star. Because that is who the girl looks like. If you don’t know who she is, look her up. HAHAHA. Fantastic sequel this would be.
Cloverfield was okay, when the monster was on-screen. Otherwise, all that stuff with the humans was boring. I think a sequel should be made because the first film failed in establishing it’s creature as an iconic American movie monster. However, I wonder if the novelty of the film’s original concept may have worn off.
FAKE.
I loved Cloverfield, but this is not real.
Is it me? Look at the time slot 0:27 and it looks like something fell from the sky.
At about :26 seconds you can see a squid thing falling in the background behind of the tall building in the middle of the shot
Actually, if this is indeed related officially to Cloverfield, the “squid” falling from the sky is actually a satellite falling from orbit. It wakes the monster and that night, reeks havoc.
Unless it’s a completely different monster…
But hopefully it isn’t, because then the whole NY monster disaster movie style would start to get repetitive…more than it already is, haha.
I’m sorry, but this looks very fan made. I don’t think it has anything to do with a sequel.
If you pause on the clips that interrupt the video, it is anything special that hints to the sequel. Even the military looks like they’re just standing there, maybe at an airport or something.
Sorry, but definitely fan made.
This is like a cruel parody of the Cloverfield concept. Definitely fan-made.
looks fan made, but maybe thats the purpose? it is a concept about amateur cam recording, so if its really fan made, this is really creative, if its not, then its no so creative lol, perhaps a teaser creative way?
I was thinking fake as well until i saw the authentic looking military guys.
I think that if they do do a sequel film it like an actual movie this time. It’s a fitting change.
Plus you could always start the movie off by having a few old politicians, and generals in a dark room watching the end of the first film.
On second viewing it looks really fake
This is a fake, cmon, look at the cheap acting and stuff, ye ai know the first cloverfield was “not” really acting, but here, this girl is too fake. and at the end when she “dies” why is the building still standing and in daylight? the monster was at night, and he destroyed buildings!!! waht are the chances of the camera being in the same spot as she left it when she dies….. Trully FAKE!!…… unless someone can prove me wrong, i wont believe this… i would love another cloverfield though
I don’t think it’s fake simply due to the fact the wto videos from the user take place on opposite ends of America.
The first one is in California while the second is in New York. If the vids are fake, this person is going to great lengths to fool us.
Secondly, the distortion effects are very, very, very well done and perhaps to complicated to be amateur.
Cloverfield equals a refreashing brilliant experience! One could hope there comes another. D-9 is the only thing that has come close since.
I hope they show the perspective of the soldiers or the scientists. It would make it like the game Half-Life, but it would be good to see what they discover
“Cloverfield” to me was one of the greatest monster films. But, to me this video seems fake.
And yet every bit as “fake” as the video used directly in the film last time.
If it is fake they did a hell of a job making it look precisely like the personal camcorder stuff did in the movie.
