From the category of “Don’t read too much into that statement!” we get a strange quote from Ewan McGregor on his gay role across from Jim Carrey.
McGregor Happy With Gay Role Opposite Carrey “I like it because it’s a gay film, which is to say it’s a film about two men in love… I also got to French kiss Jim Carrey a lot, and I quite like that too.” Ewan McGregor on playing Carrey’s lover in new movie I Love You, Phillip Morris.
You have to be pretty confident in your sexuality to throw out statements like that and know the reaction and specuation they are going to generate!

I’d love kissing Jim too. =]
Can’t wait to watch this movie. Looks like a comedy, but I am sure there’s gonna be a lot of drama too.
It’s pretty challenging to take on a gay role… hope the movie takes in the numbers. I’m glad Jim Carrey is taking on something different finally; the last time we saw something different from him was back in 04, with the beautiful Eternal Sunshine.
This movie sounds, and looks, awesome =]
Why is this quote “strange?” At least 5-10% of the population is gay, lesbian or bisexual. It’s what happens every day in a lot of lives. Just because you may not do it, doesn’t make it “strange.”
And a 100% of all Ewan McGregors are not gay. Which makes it strange.
If he was gay or even bi, the statement wouldn’t seem at all strange, but considering he is not even bi, it seems strange to hear him offer up that he enjoyed making out with Carrey.
I didn’t say it was wrong or anything negative at all, just unusual, extraordinary, curious, odd.
Or even strange.
“At least 5-10% of the population is gay, lesbian or bisexual. It’s what happens every day in a lot of lives.”
Actually, that is what you call an urban legend, first originating from Alfred Kinsey’s survey that few know was the result of the questioning of, specifically, prisoners and prostitutes. All other studies have shown that the number of exclusively homosexual individuals is closer to 1 or 2 percent.
And 64% of people will pull percentages out of their ass just to sound smart.
It doesn’t matter how many people subscribe to the lifestlye. Its irrelevant.
On the contrary. The belief that “every society will be 10% homosexual” has been of great undeniable influence over the last 50 years. So yeah, it may be more-or-less irrelevant when discussing whether or not homosexuality is an acceptable thing(something Ryan was discussing just now), but at the same time it’s definitely worth noting.
I don’t know what world those stats came from Jake, but go outside sometime. Hang out in clubs and bars and parties. No way are only 1-2 percent of people gay. Where did you get those percentages?
No offense meant, Jake, just genuinely curious.
I was really against this movie up until seeing the trailer and realizing it was a comedy.
But I still think this is gunna be a very “unique” movie.
This and Moulin Rouge?
Obi-Ewan is a definite suspect now…
Not that there’s anything worng with that…
At least we knew Jake and Heath Ledger weren’t gay because they thought the stuff they had to do in Brokeback Mountain were awfully gross. But Mcgregor? “Woohoo! Yippee!” I don’t know…
I saw the trailer for this somewhere…(here?).
I missed out on Brokeback Mountain, but this definitely looks good.
Ewan is straight except when it comes to Batman characters.
He humped Batman in Velvet Goldmine and now he’s humping The Riddler!!
Better watch yo ass Tomy Lee Jones!
hahahaha… didn’t see that coming
Who doesn’t like drenching another dude.
who wouldn’t?
and im a guy thats completly straight.
but Carrey is amazing, id be gay for him.
