New Nightmare on Elm Street Images and Synopsis Online

With everything we have seen so far about the Nightmare on Elm Street remake, it appears to be pretty faithful to the original. So faithful in fact that if you take the new official released images and the synopsis, you would think it will be a frame by frame re-enactment.

Just a reminder… these images are from the NEW movie…

Bloody Disgusting has a shockingly revealing synopsis to offer too:

“Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.”

And here I thought we might get a shakeup, but at least so far we are getting the same film.

Or are we? Is this just marketing to show how faithful it is, then spring some twist on you? There has been talk about revealing more about Freddy’s origin instead of just urban lore. Perhaps making him wrongfully accused and therefore the misdirected acts that lead to his firy death lead to his supernatural transformation.

Time will tell.

Awesome. I can’t wait to see this movie.

  2. Ifaz says:

I got only one thing 2 say…………Jackie Earle Haley.

  3. party marty says:

I think we will get a different portrayal of Freddie, perhaps a more aneamic, creepy one, which will change the tone of the film. I was always a bit disturbed at how child molester Freddie became so comical in later films, he was like Jim Carrey in the Mask. Looking at the figure, this Freddie is more realistically burned looking, with a creepy frown instead of a big grin.

  4. thematticus says:

I think for sure they will focus a lot on his origin. At least, thats what the trailer I saw led me to believe.

  5. Tina says:

I’m looking foreward to seeing this, BUT I REALLY hope they don’t try and make Freddy a falsly accused person. I’m getting sick of all these re-makes to where the bad guy is just “mis-understood”, or ” he just had a bad childhood,..” ect…..
    we DON’T NEED an explanation.
we DON’T NEED an “origin” story.
Seriously. some people are just plain evil F$%^ers. ( Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, John Gacy, ect…)
please stop trying to make these guys tragic figures and empathetic to audiences….

    - other wise, go for it.

  6. Kobayashi Maru says:

Another remake i’m against…Friday the 13th was the only horror series i thought needed remaking. I mean..why? Especially if you’re giving us the same movie!! ok, so the sequels got repetitive and bad…(not that bad mind you)..but…aren’t you just doomed to repeat the exact same problem??

  7. meli says:

I am seriously hoping they don’t make Freddy a wrongly accused victim. The trailer seems to insinuate that is what we might get and there were rumors that that would be the plot difference from the original. If that is the case I will be extremely annoyed. I want to see it because I think Jackie Earl Haley will rule as Freddy, but I’m not sure I will support this movie with my $$ if that’s the case – it’ll become a wait for Netflix rental.

  8. me says:

I agree there’s no need to remake this film. Just stop already. I’m sure J. Gandolfini “Could’ve” played Don Corleone, but should we be balls-out if we heard Godfather was being remade?????
I know the historic value doesn’t truely compare btwn these two movies but what’ll it take for the nation who loves movies to cry out, STOP!!!!???

  9. War-Journalist says:

I am on-board for the new idea that Freddy was innocent. I don’t know how he could have gotten off without prison if he was guilty anyway. But as long as it’s a focus on Freddy. Not who the real murderer was, not trying to say they’re sorry, just a simple case of “you made me, now I’ll unmake you.” As long as in the end, we have the same old sadistically evil Freddy.
But if we WAS innocent, I wonder where he got the claws. And how he got his ‘powers’ would be interesting, even if its just a vague nod.

    • Rodney says:

That’s just it. I don’t need Freddy to be innocent. As soon as he starts terrorizing people out of revege he becomes less innocent anyways.

But to have a blind raging hate brewwing from his life being ruined by a false accusation is fine. He can become a far worse monster than they accused him of.

      • party marty says:

Rodney is that Freddys innocent idea your own example or has it been hinted somewhere before? Its an interesting concept.

      • Rodney says:

The idea came forward a while ago when talk of the remake was starting. It was rumoured that they were going to go that way (cant recall where I read it) and it got some people itchy.

I think that as long as he turns vindictively evil in the end, it doesn’t matter if he was wrongfully accused or not. I just think it would be interesting if the real crime was that he was innocent and that they inadvertantly created a monster in his revenge.

  10. 420Band says:

Thats what it sounds and looks like to me.

and Jackie is just right for this after seeing him tear it up in Watchmen

Wouldn’t be cool to have Freddy turn out innocent ( as seen in the trailer-sort of)

  11. 420Band says:

and as for Remakes, I can dispute their revelance for hours. BUT, Im a child from the 80′s generation and horror flicks came in 1/2 dozen. sequels, remakes, etc. so Freddy gets a Free Pass from me.

  12. tina says:

    - The reason he got off in the original was because of a technicality in the Law ( wasn’t read his rights, no search warrant, ect..)It also implied that he mocked them and laughed about it. That was the point of mob justice. To avenge their children’s death when the law wouldn’t. BUT as a result, the same family members who burned him alive where the ones that turned him into a monster..( lesson learned)

Like I said,..STOP making villains empathetic characters. He needs to be an evil Child molesting/killing Psychopath. That’s what MAKES him ‘Freddy: ,.he’s an evil SOB, who has a mad on for revenge.
_ I don’t need to , or WANT to feel sorry for him.

    • Apostrophe says:

Just to point something out, in the movies they never actually say “child molester”. They use “Child Killer” instead and leave the molestation theory to the viewers.

  13. Mr. Macphisto says:

I can’t stand remakes either, but who gives a shit, this is Freddy!

I’m not asking for high art here, I’m asking for an ass-kicking, blood spilling and (sometimes) darkly wise-cracking Nightmare on Elm Street flick.

I will be there the day it opens.

  14. cloud720 says:

If I can recall correctly, the girl pulled freddy into the real world by holding on to him. I always thought that was stupid. I wonder if it will happen this time around.
