Nutcracker to be an Action Adventure Film?

It seems that this Nutcracker film is deviating from its whimsical fairytale ballet version and is headed for some big time splodey action adventure. Ok, maybe not splodey, but there will be fisticuffs and tomfoolery.

Get The Big Picture says:

New Line bought a pitch from writer Darren Lemke to turn the story into an action-adventure, and the initial rumor was that Robert Zemeckis would make this his next motion-capture movie (or maybe it would follow the remake of Yellow Submarine. There’s no mention of Zemeckis in this new report, however.

I can totally see Nutcracker as an action film, however the gritty realism of kicking ass and taking names might give some less respectable connotations to the title of Nutcracker.

But really, the story is about a toy come to life after dusk on Christmas Eve and enters into a war with the Mouse King and his legion of mice warriors.

Hell ya, bring it on!

There are so many things wrong with this. For one thing, I love the Nutcracker and just don’t see it translating to an action movie. Sure, you could have a great scene fighting the rats and such…but I don’t think it works.

Secondly…what is this about a Yellow Submarine remake? In case Zemeckis didn’t know, half the Beatles are dead…I’m very confused.

    Starring Johnny Cage

I can totally see an action packed movie starring Sylvester Stallone in the main role with cameos of Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis, and lots of exploding toys!!! ooooh and the one liners… “i’m gonna bust your nuts, sucker…”

That or a Porno flick (title alone)

Zemekis and his “dead eyes” animation seems to be at it again, Christmas Carol had plenty of action so now we move on to “The Nut”

    ho-hum
