Edward James Olmos joins Green Hornet

I have had a surface on Green Hornet for a while now. Mostly because I am curious of any pulp comic getting a film, and morbidly curious to see Seth Rogen in the lead role. I still don’t have my head around that one.

But now Edward James Olmos, the Old Man himself has joined the cast, and this jumped up on my dradis.

Cinemablend says:

Edward James Olmos who played Admiral Adama on the recently finished best show on television Battlestar Galactica, and for some reason Olmos volunteered that he’ll be in The Green Hornet. No word on what part he’ll play, but Olmos is on his way to the set. Expect order to be restored at any moment. Better shape up Rogen, Admiral on deck.

I could see Olmos playing a mob boss or some other corporate leader that Green Hornet is trying to take down. Perhaps for selling disposable diapers or reuniting Menudo. But nothing has been announced as to who he might play.

Interestingly enough, Britt Reid is a blood relative of The Lone Ranger. Dan Reid was revealed as the Lone Ranger’s Nephew, who was also Britt’s father, making the Masked Man the great uncle of the Green Hornet.

Perhaps Olmos will play a retired Lone Ranger. That would rock. (and might encourage Paul Rudd to helm a Lone Ranger film)

Edward James Olmos was amazing as the Caption on Battlestar. But until they say who or he’s he’s going to play, guess can’t say too much.

He would make a good mob boss though, like you said.

WOW, this is great news. BSG is perhaps my favorite thing I’ve seen on TV ever, and Adama was simply badass.
Now I’m starting to wonder if I’ll like Ryan Reynolds MORE as Green Hornet than as Deadpool.

olmos is a legend..specially in the hispanic community….he could be put anywhere and poeople will love him…also very smart way to get hispanic people there….with him in it it gives u instant hispanic demographic…which is great.

Yeah… they got him for racial diversity.

All they need now is an Asian sidekick to get those Asians interested.

    • 46and2 says:

Uh huh. And I suppose Sotomayor was picked to serve on the Supreme Court mainly because she’s Hispanic too…
bigsampson, I don’t know if you’re Hispanic or not (are ellipses Spanish?) but fer Chrissakes join us in this century and give people credit for making it on merit, not race.

I’m not sure, but I don’t think that’s exactly what bigsampson means.

From what I get is he’s a great and loved actor period. It’s just that he happens to also be beloved by the hispanic community a great deal as well. That him being loved by so many is just a bonus, to go along with his amazing acting skills, period.

But then again, what do I know. ;P

  4. While I seriously doubt The Lone Ranger will come into play at all (that was for the ol’ radio show’s sake, if memory serves) this news is very interesting. Yeah, bring up Galactica if you all want to, but I also remember Stand & Deliver, Miami Vice and Blade Runner. Great all around actor.

    Great addition.

Reuniting Menudo! Only someone who is truly evil and diabolical would do something like that!

That made me laugh when I saw that.
