Hugh Jackman Calls out Theater Patron over Ringing Phone

I like hearing about actors doing more than just movies. Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman did a Broadway play called “A Steady Rain,” about two Chicago cops whose friendship is challenged after they deal with a domestic disturbance.

Well it seems like a simple production, and I don’t condone the individual who is attempting to record the performance this video is entertaining.

Right in the middle of a dramatic scene a patron’s phone rings. Jackman attempts to stay in character but calls the guy out over it.

He maintains a degree of charm making sure the audience doesn’t hate him for escalating the distraction into a disturbance. They even seem to enjoy his break of character.

If only this could happen in a movie theater. Stop the film… someone’s phone is ringing! Yes you Mr Jerk who can’t at least manage to put your phone on vibrate. If you NEED to have a phone in here (on call doctor, parent being available for babysitter crisis) at least turn it to silent ring.

But of course stopping the whole movie to call him out would be more disruptive, and counter productive.

  1. Hugh did the wrong thing here even though he called some jackass out it was wrong because he gave this guy his 15 minutes of fame and now the jackass has an icebreaker when he’s in a bar or club and goes up to a chick to hit on or is already hit on. Still pretty cool stuff from Hugh.

  2. You gotta hand it to the man cause he’s is a class act. Even in a clear situation where most other actors would just flip out, & justifiably so since the patron didn’t even have the common decency to pick up the phone after the first or second ring, he still kept his cool and didn’t go Bale on his/her ass. Bravo to him.

  3. whoa hugh jackman and daniel craig? two great actors, i want to see a movie starring both of em, that will surely rock! a sci-fi flick with both of em will surely kick extra ass too!.. like blade runner kinda sci-fi :D

    1. I agree, that would kick some HUGE ass to see them on screen together. But I would have to cattle prod the writers into making it and Awesomely Epic film, Cause I would hate to see another “Righteous Kill” lol

    1. The moron with the cell phone who interrupts the stage, cause at least the moron who captured it on HIS phone isn’t disrupting the play for everyone else there.

      1. The moron recording on his cell phone IS disrupting the play for people around him, unless there is now a hack for cell phones that turns the bright ass sceen off while recording.

      2. That you know of! Sitting in what seems like the front of the upper balcony, I’m sure people behind him (assuming it’s a “him”) are probably just as pissed at having this going on in front of them.
