Terminator Salvations Gets All Time Widest Release In Middle East

You know, I could only mention a few films off the top of my head that I thought could be a candidate for getting the widest release ever in the middle east. Terminator: Salvation would not be one of them. Not because I don’t think Terminator will be any good or bad… but it just doesn’t seem like the film to “hit it big” in the middle east to me. But then again… what do I know. I didn’t major in international social studies.
But that is indeed what has happened. Terminator: Salvation will get the widest release ever in the middle east opening on 76 screens. Now to you and me that doesn’t seem like a lot… but out there it’s a big deal. Variety reports:
Middle East auds are getting ready for the ultimate man vs. machine showdown. “Terminator Salvation” is getting the widest-ever release for a pic in the region with an unprecedented 76-print day-and-date bow May 21 across the entire Arab world.
Distrib Gulf Film will also be holding 24-hour screenings of the fourth installment of the cyborg franchise, which stars Christian Bale and Sam Worthington and is directed by McG, in its Grand Cineplex theater in Dubai.
The Middle East is one of the few international territories not being handled by Sony. Gulf Film acquired the film directly from Halcyon at script stage. Warner Bros. is releasing pic domestically on May 21.
Gaaaa… I was supposed to see a Terminator screening tomorrow night in Toronto, but I had to come out to LA on the weekend so I’m going to miss it. If any of you guys see the early screening let me know how it goes.

Does anyone know when is this releasing in India?
Wow that’s interesting, thanks for posting.
Btw I’m seeing it Thursday, I am excited
dammit, I have to wait til Saturday to see it b/c of work and I’m not willing to take off just to see a movie, DAMN
Gee, people in the middle east are eager to see an apocolyptic movie in which the world is destroyed. Who knew?
no offence, but this movie looks like an overgrown video game. I see transformers, terminators, bruce wayne, common, bloodgod, and bryce dallas howard all in one movie; and this is it.
Should be seeing it tomarrow night, barring any unforseen disaster, I’ll let you know what I think….. Hopefully the film itself isn’t the disaster.
I should be seeing it Thursday, but I’m not totally psyched about it.The questions i have revolving around movies 1-3 don’t seem to come up in the movie or trailer(at least).this seems more like resident evil technological robot edition.survive the horde of robots.IDK i guest i am psyched about it.
Hey John, just wanted to let u know, that most probably there might be a midnight screening on Wednesday (so it’s going be 12 am Thursday), in Bahrain. They have done that before for the major film releases. Over here this is one of the most hyped movies of the summer. If I do get a ticket (they wont sell it before Wednesday afternoon its going to be packed up) I might get a chance to see it earlier. Do you want me to send a brief review as to how it was or some pictures (I mean of the crowd not the movie) of the screening?
Some one else has also asked me to send them some info if it shown on the midnight screening.
I saw an advance screening in suburban Detroit last night, hosted by McG. I won’t claim to be a movie expert, but I thought it was absolutely fantastic! My only complaints were a few cheesy references to T2 and Christian Bale busting out the husky Dark Knight voice a couple of times. It’s the best of the 2009 blockbusters so far.
Slumdog Terminator.
