New I Love You Phillip Morris Trailer Online

A new trailer for I Love You Phillip Morris is online, and it sure has me curious about the film.

This just looks hillarious. I know some people are going to think this is a gay movie, and well it is. The main characters are gay. Are you done being 12 now? Good. Because the movie isn’t about focusing on the gay part, they just happen to be gay.

That’s probably the part I like most about it. Its a comedy with gay men in it that isnt making it a comedy to be gay.

I really want to see this. And its been a while since I have said that about a Jim Carrey movie.

  1. ‘ Because the movie isn’t about focusing on the gay part, they just happen to be gay.’

You can’t be serious. I believe the trailer goes something like ‘im gay gay gay gay gay’. This film isn’t adressing the topic as seriuosly, or head on as say Milk. But you can hardly deny that the GAY aspect is a big focus of the trailer. Cue end scene walking away in gay bondage kit..

    1. That would be like watching Sex in the City and complaining that “these girls are straight, I believe the show goes something like ‘im straight straight straight straight’. This film isn’t addressing the topic as seriously, or head on as say Friends. But you can hardly deny that the straight aspect is a big focus of the trailer. Cue end scene walking away going on a date with a guy..”

Its a rom com with gay people. Yeah, they are going to be gay. Thats what gay people do. Be gay.

And not every gay is into bondage. Just like every straight person isn’t against it.

      1. Yeah I think Rodney has a point here, lots of straight rom coms feature a lot of weird and kinky stuff including bondage. So because a gay rom com does it, it’s too much? Talk about double standards.

There have been romantic comedies with gay actors/actresses playing straight characters, why would the reverse be any less appropriate?

I dunno, I’ll wait until the release for final judgements but I tend not to take trailers too seriously since they are largely influenced by the marketing departments of the studios and often skew the actual message of the film, or completely change it.

  2. I was under the impression that this was to be a ‘romcom’ with more romance at it’s core than comedy? I’m sure I read somewhere that someone said something like that…

  3. This movie just looks odd to me. It seems like a cheap ploy putting these 2 straight guys in the gay guys’ shoes, and then we’re all supposed to laugh at the bad gay stereotypes that arise. I could be wrong, but the whole thing feels kinda wrong.

It does look funny, though. I just hope it doesn’t go too far into the gutter for laughs.

  4. I want Jim Carrey to make a good movie again. He’s got such potential to be a great actor. I thought he was robbed of credit he really deserved for “Man on the Moon”

  5. this looks hilarious! i hope this doesn’t become, “that gay movie with jim carrey”. there is so much more going on here. i am looking foward to this.
