Rose McGowan joins Conan – Not Red Sonja

Rose McGowan has signed on to the new Conan reboot. While the knee jerk reaction is that she would be playing Red Sonja since the Conan spinoff character’s film that she was slated to star in was stalled to oblivion. But that is not the case. She will be playing a halfbreed witch baddie in this.
So is McGowan setting herself up for a SONJA spinoff with a role in this film? Not quite. She’ll play a villainess in the film described as being a “half-human/half-witch.” Whether she’ll be in cahoots with lead villain Khalar Singh (played by AVATAR baddie Stephen Lang) remains to be seen.
I don’t know what “half-human/half-witch” is supposed to mean. I thought that a witch was more of a profession than a race.
Its like saying Half-human/half-architect.
Maybe it works differently in the world of Conan.
I was always against McGowan playing Red Sonja anyways, so I am happy to hear that her involvement here is not to set up the Red Sonja spinoff character. Rose would look incredible in a chainmail bikini, but I was always wary of how believable a warrior woman who weights as much as her sword was supposed to work.
This sounds great. And her as Red Sonja is even more great.
I agree she would LOOK great as Sonja, but I can’t buy the slinky petite McGowan as a warrior woman.
And she wont be Sonja in Conan either.
yeah but ANYONE can change to fit a role, you dont give her enough credit to bulk up like Hillary Swank did for Million $ Baby? I wouldnt have pegged her as a boxer either but she put on 20 pounds of muscle. Rose could do the same thing…I think she would do well in that part.
She already has plenty of practice being half human/half witch…Im pretty sure that was her character description in Charmed…they were still mortal and witches, maybe thats where the half and half comes in…
To be honest, I am not sure how I felt about Rose as Red Sonja either. She would have been better than Brigitte Nielson and that God awful mullet she was sporting back in the day.
When she (Rose) was initially announced as Sonja I was only lukewarm to the idea. I just can’t help but feel there is someone out there better suited for the role?
Regarding Conan, cast is shaping up nicely and very excited about this project.
I just want her to lick a bloody sword be it in this or Sonja!

She was super-hot back in the late 90′s and early 2000′s ….but in Grindhouse, I noticed something happened to her beautiful slutty face..anyone know? or is it just age?
Yea, I think she had some cosmetic surgery. At least that is what I have read, I am not a fan of her new look either.
I wonder if it might be along the lines of The Witch seen in the first Conan film. Y’kno, the one that gave him some action before attempting to cut his throat? She kind of mutated into a dragon succubus woman during sex? Anyone remember?
And y’know what? I’m fine with Rose in Conan.

no i think what there talking about with the “witch” is something like a harpy or something mystical…still they could have got that right. Either way i loved the actor they got to play conan when he was on stargate as Ronin. And i love me some rose mcgowan…she is one sexxy white women.
