Zach Galifianakis is The Incredible Mr Limpet?

Its been a while since director Kevin Lima announced that he was going to remake The Incredible Mr. Limpet. The original featured a man who gets transformed into a fish, and
Fused Film says:

Now we are hearing that Kevin Lima is interested in having Zach Galifiankis as the new Mr. Limpet. The Los Angeles Times reports that Lima and producers have been in talks with Galifianakis to lead the revamp of the live-action animation hybrid about a man who transforms into a fish and fights Nazi U-boats.

Galafianakis has a dry humour that would give Mr Limpet a completely different feel to it, so I wonder if they will ask Zach to zany it up? Especially when their eye was originally on the likes of Robin Williams or Jim Carrey to voice the classic Don Knotts role.

I would like to see this remake get the new treatment. Its a silly story that will likely be aimed at the younger crowd, but a man transforming into a fish who helps fight Nazi submarines? How can you go wrong with that.

The original was FULL of charm, but certainly reflects the era it was written in and doesn’t hold up as a whole. An updated version could be a lot of fun.

  1. Gee I was just reading that they were looking at Johnny Depp for this role, and I am thrilled that he wasn’t chosen! My fear was that he would add a touch of darkness and macabre as he did with Willy Wonka (and ruined the film). Jim Carey was my pick, and I believe he would have done Don Knotts proud. But anyone is better than Johnny Depp! I look forward to the remake of one of my favorite childhood movies.

  2. This was one of my most favorite movies when I was a kid. They BETTER NOT mess it up. To be perfectly honest hearing Zach Galifianakis was involved I immediately felt like they had already started to mess it up.
